I don’t know what it was about this film that got me but I just connected to it immediately. That was only built upon through its runtime, the dance scene being a highlight.

Raw and simple, but ultimately gorgeous. For a short film, it is satisfying and intriguing. I'm excited to see more from this team of filmmakers.

I Love Imogen Poots

It was insanely good timing that I watched this immediately after You Can Count on Me.

What Have Had succeeds in is it depicts a simple story with complex writing and complex characters (portrayed quite well by Imogen Poots and Ben Rosenfield) without making this short dialogue heavy.

Short films aren't my thing but this has one of the best moments in the history of film ever. Truly amazing performances, very emotional.

Нежное поэтическое кино с чудными актерскими работами. Получилось немногословное рассуждение на тему отчуждения, близости, потери, но без крайностей. Никакого надрыва или наоборот — медитативного бесцельного всматривания. За происходящим в Have had с интересом наблюдаешь потому, что там все на своих местах: драматургия ровная, взгляд — свежий, актеры — не замыленные.

Два формально близких человека не виделись друг с другом кучу лет. Их объединяет кровное родство и горе утраты. Которую каждый переживает по-своему, но которая не сближает. По крайней мере, так покажется тем, кто читает между строк. В паузах и молчаливых сценах окончательно станет ясно, что перед нами семья, которая уже/еще не чувствует себя как семья. Сидящие в одной машине и ночующие в одном доме они максимально далеки друг от друга, что виртуозно передается даже в простых общих планах. Поэтика Have had не всем по душе: в 2017-м в кино проза практически упразднила поэзию. Но кому от этого хуже — нам или ей?

The acting was good but I couldn't connect to the characters. I guess I felt like I was waiting for the film to do something and it didn't. If I hadn't expected that I might've enjoyed it a lot more.
