Cheap, trashy, gross, and goofy. I would have enjoyed it more with less gratuitous sex and nudity. The Charles Band interview with Joe Bob was way more entertaining than the actual movie.
You grow up thinking Stephen Hawkins is the coolest shit in a wheelchair until you watch Myron Stackpoole lick a nipple while telepathically staging Joan of Arc reenactments in his basement using his family of evil horny mutants like marionettes and then you get it.
Pretty sure I saw this once before when I was younger. And every subsequent year that that giant disgusting head haunted my dreams!! Thats one gnarly dude dang!
This is that mid tier of Full Moon where the quality was starting to fade but the weirdness and entertainment was still going pretty strong. A real video store staple that would lure anyone to gaze upon ol nasty big head! A movie that my friends and I would surely rent for a sleepover just from that cover.
Myron the freaky abomination is controlling his weird mutant family to do his bidding. When a bunch of rowdy outsiders cross their path it turns into a real brew ha ha.
Now I do…
Lmao at the fake money used in this, I only wish it had Charles Band's face on it. That would have been perfect.
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs - Season 4 - Episode 9 - Film 1
Lance has a problem named Howie. Howie's wife is cheating on him with Lance, and the two want nothing more than to get rid of him and run off together. This is no easy feat because Howie is a Harley Davidson driving drug dealer who has no issue with killing. The Stackpool family are known to be strange, but what no one knows is that the three siblings are all controlled by the fourth brother Myron. A small bodied man with a huge head. He's the head of the family and it's him who controls his siblings and instructs them to abduct human subjects…
“Sometimes I feel like a big old turd in a small toilet.” & that insane comment, was not even 10 mins in😆
So aside from the masterful writing(🤣), the ultra trashy b movie fun(that’s more realistic), and no matter how weird it got, I couldn’t take my eyes away lmaooo! This was just ridiculous enough for enjoyment. The villain creature thing aka the giant head, looked awesomely gross and the henchmen(🤔??) were perfectly soulless. Lance stirred up a good mess too lol and the most satisfying moment was seeing the head flying down those stairs!
& yoooooo, what was up with that ending….5.6/10🧠
Kind of a Double Indemnity affair but set in the Charles Band universe of weird puppet things. It will always be the movie that made me realize I like Jacqueline Lovell. I first noticed her in Lolida 2000, and then a handful of other Surrender Cinema bing bongs. She has such a fresh faced Alicia Silverstone quality, almost out of place for Full Moon's hamfisting. But she really sells this opportunistic cheating wife character. This all lead me down an internet vortex where I ended up on her current boyfriend's Instagram account looking at photos of them doing totally normal stuff because I'm a voyeur and it's 2019.
I held off on this one for so long because I had…
There's something so wonderfully ridiculous with the mid-90's Full Moon movies and this one is no exception. Just plain fun stupidity across the board involving quintuplets each gifted with different physical attributes and white trash diner blackmail. Loved this dumb fun movie.
i'm getting the impression that the guy who made this really likes looking at boobs and i can't even be mad because i do too
You know how much I love Charles Band and his movies! Seriously! I fucking love the guy! Head of the Family has almost all of what you'd expect from a Charles Band movie, sadly minus the practical gore effects. But hey! It did offer a lot of trashiness and weirdness for our enjoyment! We also got lots and lots of gratuitous nude scenes and sex scenes! Myron's design was pretty cool! I wish he had a tad bit more personality, but he really wasn't a bad villain at all!
Short review, I know, but I hope you enjoyed the read anyway! All in all, Head of the Family is a little bit on the weaker side when it comes to a lot of the other Full Moon stuff that I really enjoy, but it's definitely still brainless entertainment for sure! I say go ahead and give it a watch!
"What's the point of murdering your husband when you can't even fuck in a bed?"
Not the gangster epic the title would suggest, Head of the family is more like the "white trash Gone With the Wind". (I'm sure Rob Zombie took notes.)
Con man Blake Adams blackmails a family of mutants into killing his girlfriend's husband while trying to avoid becoming one of the armies of lobotomized goons living in their basement.
Got all that? Good, because there is also a giant head with telekinesis, a somnambulist with huge boobs,(Dr. Calagari this ain't.) and so much sex and nudity even an ardent porno fan would blush.
The campy, silly tone makes this highly entertaining, with surprisingly good acting for one of these things.
An oddball film even by Charles Band standards, who is known for oddball films.

“Every stupid word of yours is a deposit at the pain bank!”
-an exploitation film version of McConaughey in the lead
-fun as heck, bubbly ensemble cast
-great campy villain/creature/monster
-outrageous/fun quotes, as you see obviously see above
I never would've watched this without it being shown by Joe Bob but I'm glad it was.
