Her Name is Torment II is the upcoming obvious sequel to Dustin Mills’ underground hit Her Name Was Torment. The film hit the indie horror community with a bang and Mills promised to follow it up with an even more ballsy and gut-wrenching film.
When you press play on the DVD menu for this, a message comes up saying "IT'S GOING TO HURT" and when you click to play the movie it says "YOU WILL SEE THINGS" and when you click again it says "TERRIBLE THINGS" but then the movie plays and the truth is that the movie did warn me that it would be terrible, so I appreciate that little disclaimer!!
There's some really great gore effects in this and of course they're great because Marcus Koch did them! He's so cool!!
Also, imagine my surprise when someone I've worked with before was in this movie? I had no idea!! What a confronting surprise!!
If Her Name Was Torment was Dustin Mills doing a bedroom demo with a battered old tape recorder and an acoustic guitar, Agony takes the concept to Gold Star Studios with the Wrecking Crew. There's still not much of a narrative here, but the scope of the action is vastly wider and more facets of the bizarre mythology behind what drives the titular Torment (Allison Egan) are unveiled. The grainy, grimy black & white look of the first film is exploded with garish, lurid splashes of color and some truly sickening gore effects by Mills and Marcus Koch. Experimental short that follows more into the twisted mind that is Torment and Agony. Dustin Mills never lets me down.
Knowing what I was getting into this time made it more palpable. Its reminiscint of Nekromantik but still has its own unique style. Some pretty morbid shit here, People.
