This is a sad portrayal of how the small things in our lives can force us to relive trauma. A Child's game reminds us of the genocide or a mid oughts exploitation movie can revive the experience of surviving a violent attack.
The way we hide these scars from our children in the hopes they never have to have scars of their own like this.
The desperate desire for a normal life after such horrors.
I do wish the description didn't spoil it though. Oh well
