Hey guys, I found that TRANSMORPHERS 3 MOVIE I was looking for!
The Asylum kind of delivers again. This time, and I must say up front, this is one of the MOCKIES that I have NOT seen The Hollywood Counterpart for yet, so maybe my review is off.
But making this Blair Witch meets the Alien Sci Fi angle of the Transformers series just didn't work for me. I have no clue if the BumbleBee Hornet film from Paramount has lots of found footage elements, but I don't really think it worked here for the story or characters. I say it because found footage is toughhhh to pull off.
5 stingers (out of 5)
Get outta here Citizen Kane. THIS is an absolute masterpiece. There definitely seems to be some serious Oscar buzz (pun intended), especially for the performance of Military Guy as played by guy with stubble and jawline. The writing is up there with the works of Charlie Kaufman and Aaron Sorkin. The Hornet is some of the best CG, it rivals Avatar. The best movie of all time. Alfred Hitchcock, eat your heart out.
Hornet is an upcoming movie by The Asylum due out on December 18th, obviously made to be a mockbuster on the Transformers: Bumblebee movie. Amazon Prime Video in Canada has been releasing almost the entire Asylum catalog on their service bit by bit over the last couple weeks (so, pretty much early Christmas to someone like me that loves B-Movies!) and among the ones uploaded, much to my surprise, was an early release for Hornet!
The plot is simple enough, although a tad bit unbelievable (then again, which Asylum movie isn't? Hahaha). When aliens invade the Earth and start brainwashing people into a mindless rage zombie-like state, it's up to a group of University students to use their secret project…
I love the shots where they have the microphone in the foreground taking up half the screen while the agent is talking slightly out of focus in the background. It's random. It's chaotic. It's oppressively repetitive.
A BUMBLEBEE KNOCK OFF FROM THE ASYLUM...WHY WOULD I WATCH THIS?...IT WAS ONE DOLLAR...MY DAUGHTER AND I WATCHED IT TOGETHER AND WERE ACTUALLY IMPRESSED...THE FILM IS WELL SHOT,NICE TO LOOK AT AND WELL ACTED FOR THE MOST PART...HOWEVER THEY SEEM TO HAVE HAD 12 BUCKS FOR CGI...LONG STRETCHES OF THE FILM TURN INTO TALK OFFS AND DRAGGED OUT DRAMA DRIVEL...SHAME...WE WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE SHELL OF THE FILM...THE MEAT HOWEVER...HORNET...HE DOESNT GET TO DO MUCH AGAINST A FOE THAT DOESNT GET TO DO MUCH...STILL THOUGH...ASYLUM,IM ALMOST IMPRESSED.

Advertised as 'Bumblebees' on Google Play I rented this and now I know what it feels like to be slapped across the face, pissed on, bent over a public toilet and get sodomised so unfathomably hard that you can't walk straight for three weeks and four days.
