  A sweet documentary that uses the coming-of-age milestone of a spring dance to express the journey toward independence of young autistic individuals who need to be understood in order to connect. This was very close to home, and I look forward to seeing how it’s been adapted for the stage since the doc -> musical pipeline is so barren.

  Another simple, no frills documentary, no doubt destined for some public broadcast channel in the very near future. The subject this time around, a group of Aspberger'S kids who're being forced to attend a Spring Formal with other "on the spectrum" kids in their support group.

  Way to throw the most socially vulnerable to the wolves. It's something the kids' supervisor/doctor fully acknowledges - he's preparing these kids for life and life is ugly-hard. It's a necessary part of growing up but that doesn't make it any less cringeworthy to watch.   had to make sure I was watching the right movie when the Blumhouse card came up during the intro.

  A guy I went to high school with would always mention he was in a movie and hey, there he is. Great job, Drew! You killed it! Also, the scene of the kids going dress shopping with their moms was so so tender. I'm a puddle on the floor.

  "If you've met one person on the Autism Spectrum, you've only met one person on the Autism Spectrum"

  This is the most poignant statement in the film and one that I think many tend to forget when meeting someone with an Autism Spectrum disorder. As a young woman diagnosed with a mild case of AS at the age of 9 I often find myself having to repeat this when I constantly hear "You don't act like you have it" or "Well I know someone who has it and you seem so normal so you were probably misdiagnosed."
