  The Big Ole List of Horror-esque Movies I Watched This October 2017
  Movie #33:

  The Corman remake of the Corman original. And I watched the freakin' version with most of the gore and all the nudity cut out! But I still half enjoyed it in a low rent 90's made for cable TV kind of way. They killed a kid and the monsters are cheaply cool looking and nothing works as well as the original but it still has enough of it's spirit to keep me mostly entertained. The dude who played Cher's potential boyfriend (who turned out to be gay) in Clueless was in this. Weird.

  HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP, das gleichnamige Remake des 1980er Klassikers DAS GRAUEN AUS DER TIEFE (Dt. Titel) entpuppt sich als überraschend zeigefreudig was seine kleinen Splatter-Einlagen angeht. Dies erstaunt umso mehr als dass dieser Film eine US-Kabel-TV Produktion ist. Und damals war dies noch nicht die Norm wie es heute der Fall ist.

  The remake was quite the timid shell of the original.

  The original was pretty fast pace and gory. This was a different pace altogether. Adding a story involving a father and daughter arc which really wasn't needed. The good side to this was the minus of rape scenes that would be found in the original movie.

  There were some effects and gore in this remake but not enough to make it worthwhile. Hard to say if Showtime had a hand in how this remake was going to be or if Roger Corman, being in the producer seat again, didn't get his way on the added gore.

  I'm probably rating this too high, but I don't care! Entertaining 90's creature feature remake with some good gore and fun creature design. I love the original movie and this hits the spot too. Happy to finally check this off my watchlist, thanks to YouTube.

  Bonus film whose year ends in '6'

  Some guys you hope get killed by the end of the movie dump a bunch of weird chemicals in the ocean. Some kids are out to bust them because Captain Planet. Some fish man monsters start eating everybody.

  Aliens meets Jaws. That was the pitch, I’ll bet you anything.

  Everyone in this is extremely unlikable, but in kind of an adorable way, if that makes any sense. There’s plenty of ’90s music you’ve never heard but sounds familiar — seriously, most of them aren’t on Spotify or anywhere else — which is kind of my jam.

  The original Humanoids From The Deep is one of my all-time favourite monster movies. The 1996 version, made for tv remake might be unnecessary but with a story as good as this it needs to be told at least twice! And don’t let the made for tv scare you off, there’s plenty of gore, naked skin, foul language and wonderful fish-monsters from the deep. Not as good as the original of course but still a damn entertaining ride.

  Something in the water is killing men and taking women in this Roger Corman remake of a Roger Corman original. Go figure.

  Robert Carradine's daughter is missing after a swim. Her new boyfriend, Justin Walker (of Clueless) helps Carradine in locating her.

  The creatures are the Army's attempt at creating super soldiers that can live underwater, but a chemical put into the waters has caused the creatures to be horny little buggers that want baby Noids.

  Mark Rolston (Aliens), Clint Howard, Season Hubley, Walton Goggins, and Emma Samms are some fo the stars.

  Movie makes little sense, over-acting is horrible, but the costumes kick ass (at least for a Corman flick).

  Passsable gore but I wanted more. Not horrible, as I kept my expectations low. I wanted more Emma Samms as she is so cute.

  Love the ending.

  Part of the "Roger Corman presents" series for Showtime which were all the rage on TMN at the time. Most of the output was sketchy - only the Alien Avengers films stood out, and even they were more like Troma films. Amongst the worst, were the remakes (like Piranha 1995) - which brings us back to this awful fish monster sexual assault property.

  Robert Carradine replaces Doug McClure as the only member of a coastal village's status quo who has his heart in the right place - Mark Rolston replaces Vic Morrow, while Ann Turkel's scientist gets a serious upgrade in the unfortunate Emma Samms.   Watched for Horror. Cult. Trash. Other. Podcast Episode 206.

  This actually isn’t a terrible remake and, for me, the only thing stopping it from being as good as or better than the original is the lazy reusing of footage from the original and the laughable performance by Christian from Clueless trying to play a serious character. There’s some great practical effects, the humanoids look decent and thankfully it ditches showing the sexual assault scenes that the original had no problem showing for exploitation purposes. This wasn’t a terrible double bill, I’m actually surprised!

  Typical cheesy and immensly watchable Corman tv remake, complete with cost-cutting footage from the original. Make sure to watch the unrated version though, it has both nudity and gore.

  A bit of a pointless remake as it appears to have a lower budget than the original and doesn't do anything new or exciting with the material. That said, the original's an absolute banger so it's hard for this to be total shit, as hard as it tries.
  A couple of plus points are that the monsters are still cool and Robert Carradine looks like he's cosplaying as Walker Texas Ranger.

  Wait, there are two versions of this film? And this one isn't the good one? Whoops.

  Despite the disappointment of realising that you've bought an inferior remake half an hour into proceedings and the generally drab, made-for-TV stylings, this is actually quite fun - I particularly liked the senile mortician, Clint Howard's welcome appearance as a cop and the fact that it moved at a brisk pace (see previous review for context).

  Bah, though. Bah.
