Faceless Beauty, The Hypnotized, 얼굴 없는 미녀
Hypnotized aka Eolguleobtneun minyeo(meaning Faceless Beauty) is a psychological thriller starring Kim Hye-soo as Ji-su, an author with a borderline personality disorder.
A year after her short stay in a mental institution she encounters her old doctor Seok-won, who wasn't able to help her. They become friends and although she's still in her troubled marriage they start an affair, aided by Seok-won manipulating Ji-su with hypnosis.
I was quite surprised to find out that as of now, ten years after it's release, this is still only the second film from writer/director Ki In-shik.
He presents the doctor/not patient anymore relationship in stunning fashion, sometimes aided by tasteful CGI in surreal sequences, but more often by voyeuristic tracking shots and camera…
Cerita yang tak biasa , jadi bingung dengan alur nya tapi ending layaknya film indo 😟
Finally! Found the film I have watched 8-9 years ago in an internet cafe accidentally and forgot about it.
A couple of years ago, the memory of watching this film came to my mind out of nowhere and since then I was searching for it's name time and time again all over the internet but had no luck as I only remembered certain one or two weird scenes from the film and especially the stairs.
I am actually surprised that only a handful of people logged this film on Letterboxd and it's painfully underseen. I remember I was really uncomfortable and unnerved while watching it.
For now, I feel happy and relieved that I found one of the two films that were bugging me for quite some time now.
I found this one occasionally difficult to pay attention to and follow, though it also had the sporadic good moments, too.
The story is primarily about a love triangle.
There's a woman who is in a bad marriage. Her husband is cheating and ignoring her. She's depressed. She meets up with her old psychiatrist. She admits to him that she's stuck on a guy from a prior relationship (not her current husband). The psychiatrist hypnotizes her and then takes advantage of her, sexually. Once she starts spending more time with her therapist, her cheating husband decides he wants to be with her after all.
Anyway, the story is kind of silly, and the acting is at times very silly, but…
