Whatever your thoughts are on this movie, you have to admit Christian filmmaking is making some progress in terms of quality films, and it’s being led by the Erwin brothers.
The beginning was a little rough (and probably one of the only reasons it isn’t 5-stars). The pacing of the dialogue, the editing, and the camera work all could have been better, and honestly after watching the whole movie, I feel like the first 15-20min could’ve been omitted.
Most of the emotional beats felt real and deserved, and they pretty much avoided the whole “oh God will cure you of all your problems instantly if you believe in Him” kind of vibe. There was real hurt and real feelings.
Okay, so I’m not gonna say there were no cheesy moments and that it was the greatest thing ever, but it’s worth seeing this story of redemption.
Go see this movie.
