Now there’s another rich white blonde gay female supervillain apart from Ellen.
“Do you think Marla Grayson had girl power?”
“Yes, of course.”
”Do you think she effectively utilized girl power by taking advantage of and stealing from the elderly?”
Edit: Letterboxd banned my review for “lack of content.” I thought my review spoke for itself, but my opinion apparently must be explicitly stated. As shown by my score and my already written and valid review, I appreciate this film as a satire. The term “girlboss” is thrown around a lot when women are unapologetic and strong, even if their actions are immoral. This movie criticizes this trend but is still a very fun watch, and I’d love to see more films like this one. Again, so sorry for damaging the integrity of this site with my awful, no-good, very bad original review.
it was just missing something for me. don’t get me wrong, it’s slick and devilishly fun, but it felt like rosamund’s character had little substance beyond being ruthless. like with gone girl, i was really rooting for amy because nick’s a dick but with this... idk i really wanted mrs peterson to get out of the care home lol.
maybe this is evidence that “she did that!” energy can’t carry a film alone, as much as i hate to say it.
on the other hand, my mum was having a blast
American Psycho,Joker,Uncut Gems: *exist*
men: *praise the movie without bitching about the fact the protagonist was unsympathetic and claiming it's somehow detrimental to the film or pointing out various plot contrivances that allowed the protagonist to get far*
I Care a Lot: *exi....
men: FUCK THAT WOMAN! FUCK HER! I WAS ROOTING FOR PETER DINKLAGE EVEN THOUGH HE IS A RUSSIAN MOBSTER BECAUSE HE CARED ABOUT HIS MOMMY!!! TERRIBLE MOVIE, THE PROTAGONIST WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ROOT FOR!!!! WHY DID SHE SURVIVE THOSE SITUATIONS IF IT WAS TOM CRUISE IT WOULD BE SUPER BELIEVABLE BUT SHE IS A WOMAN SO THIS IS STUPID!!! AND SHE WAS ONLY A LESBIAN TO MAKE ME UNCOMFORTABLE THAT WOMEN DON'T NEED MEN!!!! TOO MUCH GIRL POWER IS MAKING MY ALREADY MICRO PENIS SHRINK!!!!!
It does sting more because she is a woman.
I see you, you fuckers.
rosamund pike with her sassy little bob always makes for some excellent girlboss fiction 😎💅
alluringly vile. reminds me so much of bad education in all the best and most interesting ways
"Hell, if your whole enterprise isn't a pitch perfect example of the American dream, I don't know what is."
This might be what passes for black comedy or satire these days, but it's inexcusably trite and toothless in almost every available facet, and you all know it.
