  Media's understandings of mental illness, outside of abject figures in horror, are limited. When we do get these depictions, depression and anxiety tend to be what we see. These are the more common mental illnesses that many people experience in their lives, and they undoubtedly come with their own significant struggles. We aren't at a point yet where depression as an illness is truly comprehended by society at large, but as far as mental illnesses go, it's likely the closest to being there. Personality disorders are another story; they're uglier and scarier, but no less real, and they're no less deserving of compassion.

  i'm very glad this movie wasn't just "uhh isn't it wacky how much millenials love their phones" for 90 minutes. but i'm also kind of annoyed about what the ending suggested it actually was?

  this movie is almost entirely crafted around aubrey plaza's strengths as an actor, and it's so well done that plenty of scenes could be seen as either comedic or dramatic, depending on how much of the audience is laughing. the only thing that struck me as unsettling was the very last scene, which sends a very weird message about plaza's fate and kinda left me a bit confused as to what matt spicer wanted to say. i really enjoyed it though– o'shea jackson's character was annoying at first but slowly became very endearing and funny. billy magnussen's character was the exact opposite and i hate him
