A terrifying, surreal film with all the ingredients that make James Wan a huge name in the horror scene.
Insidious isn't a perfect film, but upon rewatching it I realised just how scary it is at certain points. The first minute alone is bone chilling for god's sake!
This is quite a different story than your usual horror fare, which is mightily refreshing. The plot certainly isn't without its gaping holes here and there, but overall this story of a boy who astral projected and went too far, leaving his body free for nasty spirits to inhabit, is a satisfying and spooky setting.
Biggest complaint that I had with the plot: if you were a little 7 year old boy and you were astral projecting and ended up in a dimension with no light and with horrifying ghosts and demons everywhere, why the FUCK would you keep going back there???
