These days, movies are spectacles - made to leave your jaw on the floor with their twists, visuals and... other big stuff.
This is not a spectacle movie. But it is fun. Very fun. And that is what movies, at their heart, should be. You wont get tired from over thinking the plot, you wont give birth to baby smiles due to laughter, but what you are left with is a sense of adventure and excitement. It has the perfect mix of everything.
This is a great, fun movie and everyone can enjoy it.
The movie is rebel, even for out time, reaching out beyond the boundaries of Hollywood cannon. Cast performances, music and story are mostly respectable, but the script is brilliant, on the same level as Groundhog Day or Waking Life. Must see.
"Where do you find a highway that doesn't exist?"
Neal is an aspiring artist from a wealthy family that wants to see him become a lawyer against his wishes. At his birthday party he unknowingly meets a mystical wish granting being of sorts who takes an interest in him. After taking a blow to the head he begins to see things that others cannot and it leads him down a road to delivering a mysterious package west across the country via the non-existent Interstate 60.
Once in awhile I stumble upon a clip of a scene and it causes me to add a film to my watchlist. In this case it was a long time ago but I vaguely remember…
Ah, experience has conditioned you into thinking that all hearts are red and all spades are black because their shapes are similar. It's easier for your mind to interpret them based on that past experience instead of being open to the idea they could be different. We see what we expect to see, not necessarily what's really there. Children who have never played cards always pass this test. Makes you wonder how many other things are right in front of you - sights, sounds, smells that you can't experience because you've been conditioned not to. The good news is, if we do the test again, you'll pass. Once you're aware that there can be black hearts and red spades you'll…
Interstate 60 is an enjoyable road trip movie with strange and unique comedy elements. The 'fantasy' story is entertaining and refreshingly original, and the atmosphere is charming for its time. One scene is probably my favorite scene in the movie, where all citizens are literally the only lawyers in town.
The cast is spot-on; James Marsden, Gary Oldman, Kurt Russell, Amy Smart, and the lead actors from Back to the Future.
Overall, it's a smartly written movie that deserves more viewings, and I'd also like to add that James Marsden looks so pretty in the film.
Bob Cody: Say what you mean, mean what you say. You know that if everybody followed that rule, there'd be a lot less trouble.
Interstate 60 (or Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road) made me think a lot about The Man From Earth (which I liked better): a small budget film with a simple concept, yet full of ideas and topics to debate about.
There's a lot to tell about the casting: first of, I never thought that James Marsden could be such a charismatic actor, I wouldn't say he's great but his aura definitely fits well this fairy tale. It's quite disappointing that Amy Smart didn't have much to do, because she was great! It's also nice to see…
It’s a nice sweet film. Nothing spectacular about it but it works well.
A little bit of magic, wishes and mystery along the road that doesn’t actually exist.
I enjoyed it, one of those that will make you smile and laugh in certain places but it is basic, in both it’s concept and delivery. I wouldn’t put anyone off watching it but if it’s thrills and spills you like then probably not for you.
Be careful what you wish for to a T lol.
I love how brutal it was in that aspect of it too. O.W. Grant is a savage. The journey itself was pretty entertaining throughout, as it throws tons of wacky characters at us and lots of random shit happens in the meantime. This has a stacked cast and is unique enough to work quite well. 7.4/10🛣️
now this is a road trip movie people, everyone does a great job here
shout out to chris cooper and his pursuit of the truth, also the pink power ranger shows up and says fuck
