After a weekend that doesn't go according to plan, two best friends find themselves single at the same time, forcing them to confront their feelings for each other.
A truly funny and refreshing take on the ‘friends to lovers’ trope.
And my goodness did it make Indy look pretty.
Y’all ever thought about putting Frances Ha in Indianapolis? Bet you wish you had.
An absolute roller coaster. Will they? Won’t they?…
In all seriousness though, this movie was charming, sincere, and genuinely funny. As a Hoosier my heart was warmed by how beautiful Indianapolis looks on screen. The team did a terrific job of capturing it in a way that I’ve never seen before.
More than anything this is a movie about being in your 20’s. I could go on about the smart stylistic choices and beautiful cinematography but in the end the thing this film gets right the most is the people at the core. At the end of the day, I just really really enjoyed spending time with these characters.
The gold standard of capturing Indianapolis on film.
Also kinda made me want to go on a date?
can't believe i forgot to log this when it's truly one of my favorite projects i've ever had the pleasure of having the tiniest part in creating. watching this film in a room full of people who (probably) love indianapolis as much as i do was a magical experience. it's a love letter to indy, a love letter to friendship, a love letter to the ole friends-to-lovers trope, a love letter to film, and a love letter to love. also possibly a love letter to noah baumbach and twilight. i love love in all its forms!
(fun bonus, you can watch me and my girlfriend be super gross and kiss and act like we are in love! we are great actors)
i want to live in this version of indy that's dense as hell and extremely walkable and doesn't have six lane roads.
A little Baumbach-lite film that has enough charm from the cast with smooth witty banter that flows well with the more romantic dramatic moments. Helps having a tight script where nothing feels superfluous or superficial.
It was an emotional experience watching the credits roll with so many friends’ names on a film this wonderful. So excited to see where this film goes.
Keep making movies Zac!
A nice weekend with fictional friends that’s a warm reminder of nice weekends with nonfictional friends.
I love independent film.
I love low-budget, warts-and-all filmmaking where the sound crackles and natural lighting saves cash and the actors are showing up for the love of the art and not the million dollar paycheck.
You know what I really love? I really love independent films set inside my lifelong hometown of Indianapolis, a warts-and-all city where I was born and raised and where I've chosen time and again to keep myself settled.
No one made a million bucks working on Zac Cooper's feature debut It Happened One Weekend, a black-and-white 70-minute motion picture set within the heart and soul of Indianapolis which, I must say, looks absolutely stellar in black-and-white.
In case you're wondering, I loved It Happened…
Indy Film Fest 2022 - Virtual Screening
Indianapolis has never looked so beautiful on film. It was so great to see a movie where my hometown felt like an actual character in the story and I loved every second of it.
Oh yeah, about the story...it's excellent. It's simple, yet it nails every note perfectly due to it's witty dialogue and well structured pacing. It's a hangout film where I truly did love hanging out with these characters. I didn't want it to end. Bravo to the whole cast and crew. Can't wait for more people to get eyes on this one.
