It's a SpongeBob Squarepants Christmas!, SpongeBob SquarePants: It's A SpongeBob Christmas
"Don't be a jerk, it's Christmas!"
"Never trust a genie."
Alright, so I'm cheating a little with this entry. I'm reviewing both this actual special as well as the episode Christmas Who? So, I've talked about it already this year, but I can keep going on about it over and over. SpongeBob SquarePants, as a show and as a character, means more to me than I could ever say. It's all been indescribably informative on how I operate as a person, how I try to look at the world, and how I behave. Even with the flaws of It's a SpongeBob Christmas! taken into account, I think it captures the personality of the titular character himself well. When he's written…
Watched at 6 am this morning with my kids before they left for school, lol.
I love the claymation! (Well, I love everything but Santa, he looks kinda creepy... my little boys say he looks like a pig, haha.) And "Don't Be a Jerk" is one of my favorite Christmas songs now.
I'm sure we'll be watching it again before the Christmas season is over.
This isn't actually what I saw. I watched "Christmas Who?" because it's what I grew up with. Maybe I should actually check this one out...
I love Spongebob to death. As far as I'm concerned, he's the modern day Bugs Bunny. Every moment of this special is completely memorized from childhood, total classic.
First off, lol this video:

Secondly, yeah this Christmas special is pretty great, it’s got phenomenal claymation (even if some of the characters look off), some of the jokes are really good, “don’t be a jerk, it’s Christmas” is a pretty great song, I got nothing but positives here for this one, it’s just charming and a perfectly good family film.
And tomorrow’s film is, oh
Good grief
On the ninth day of Christmas, Letterboxd gave to me:
A special which confirms that Fort Knox exists in the SPONGEBOB universe.
Stop Motion Patchy will stalk me in my sleep
This special nails everything it needs to. It has the heart, spirit, and charm of a great Spongebob episode, and is also a really nicely animated one too, paying tribute to those old Rankin Bass holiday specials. It's a great special if you're a fan of the little yellow sponge or not.
Plus, it has John Goodman playing Santa Claus, and that is all kinds of epic.
And so the yearly tradition of watching Christmas/Winter themed episodes of everyone's favourite little sponge with my Sis continues. We started off with this bad boy, then watched Christmas Who?, Snowball Effect, and Survival of the Idiots. All of which are absolute classics if you ask me
A fun spongebob Christmas special and a nice homage to the rankin bass stop motion Christmas specials of years past. Not as good as Christmas Who? but fun and uplifting seasonal fare nonetheless.
All in all, a worthy Christmas special for years to come.
🎄December 2020 Christmas List🎄
Paying tribute to the old Rankin/Bass stop motion Christmas specials, this Spongebob Christmas special is animated in that style and is a fun holiday themed departure from the typical show’s episode. It’s cute and has a couple of catchy songs, the centerpiece being the fun ear worm “Don’t Be A Jerk.” Three and a half stars.

Yeah I forgot to watch movies on Christmas, so that’s why I’m barley reviewing this. I also remember when this first aired on around Christmas on Nickelodeon... good times man.
The story is typical post-Hillenburg bad, but huge credit goes to the team for actually making it in stop-motion. Its few flirtations with a sort of Adult Swim madness are great, but for the most part its pretty unpredictable and unremarkable.
U N D E R R A T E D ! !
Don’t know how anyone could dislike this wonderfully funny piece of stop motion that radiates Christmas joy 🥺 it’s not quite as good or iconic as Christmas Who, but it’s definitely still worth popping in every year and is definitely a must if you like SpongeBob at all. Plus “Don’t Be a Jerk It’s Christmas” SLAPS
My favorite Christmas special.
I know it's been a shit year, but hang in there everyone. We're almost done. We got damage control in the form of 2021 and 2022. In the meantime: set your New Year's Resolutions, always try to better yourselves, be nice to each other
And have a good Christmas. ♥️
