i am depressed. i am suicidal. i am abused and broken and trying my best to not break down in tears at any moment. i am trying to survive, so i can make the movies i want, the music i want, see the places i want to see, meet the people i'm so desperate to see, feel love in person again. i am trying to look forward to things but there is a tidal wave of emotional pain that hits me and that i can't control. i am haunted by the pain from my past and loneliness in my present, i am plagued by an illness i cannot control and i am struggling to fit into a world that doesn't…
maybe if i check myself in a psych ward and find a cute girl inside, we would fall in love then my depression will magically go away aha🤪
also can we address the blatant racism in this movie? all the poc here are just like icebreaker stories u tell everyone at a party
An unusual movie with some great transition effects of scenes added to the narration.
Nothing new, but still a good watch.
its predictable as hell but idc i need some sort of predictability in my life at the moment
that performance of under pressure is peak cinema. also, zach galifianakis nailing drama is something I never knew I needed until now.
I have always loved coming of age flicks but I never knew how much I needed to watch this until now and I’m so glad I finally did. I am too on the verge of sending in my college applications(though I haven’t written my resume or my personal statements yet but I’ll get there eventually) so as you can imagine I could relate to a significant amount of emotions Craig was feeling in this film.
I love everything about this movie such as the storyline, the directing, the characters, the script, literally everything. I think that every teenager will relate to this film at some point in their lives, maybe even certain adults as well.
After watching It’s Kind Of…
I was expecting this to be kinda tough to watch given my first-hand experience with some of the issues in this movie, but nah. It just sucks. Like, it is obviously against romanticizing mental illness, but the romantic subplot kinda negates that ("Look at how beautiful and messed up Noelle is!! She has scars on her face, that means she's tragic and complex!"). And it is sympathetic towards its protagonists, but the side characters are just there as a joke. Look, a Jewish man who did too much acid and is messed up! An Egyptian man who never leaves bed, ain't that something? There are times when the film treats everyone like equals, but most of the time it only gives the time of day to depressed/suicidal people who are still "normal" acting. "Is this the stuff of insight?" the online summary of this movie I read asked. It isn't.
Under Pressure, though. Man, what a song.
That's not fun. That's propaganda, man. All those Madison Avenue types telling you how to live your life. Fast cars, hot chicks... Reese's Pieces... Gucci... Werther's Original. I don't buy into that bullshit!

This is actually my first film from the writing/directing duo of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. I've been meaning to watch Half Nelson for what feels like forever now, but I have yet to get around to it. It also stars, Keir Gilchrist, who I've apparently never seen in anything despite him being very busy acting for the last decade.
The story revolves around Craig (Gilchrist), a clinically depressed teenager, who admits himself into a psych ward. Most of the setup I liked. Too often films…

I sat through 45 minutes, decided it was crap and watched a cuttla episodes of Skins instead!
for a movie that references vampire weekend like 3 times, it’s seriously a crime that they don’t play any vampire weekend
the only realistic part was that you can actually meet zach Galifianakis in a psych ward
An okay movie, nice representation of someone who isn’t obnoxiously in your face fucked up but fucked up nonetheless. Not a great book adaptation. The book is so so much better and really fixes a lot of the issues this movie had. I watched this literally 15 minutes after I finished the book, so my perception might be a little skewed but the movie seems to only really focus mostly on his experience in the psych ward and just kind of glosses over why and how he got there which, weird. Also, just random discrepancies between the movie and the book really pissed me off. In the book he was in the ER at 5am on a Saturday morning but…
Craig memeriksakan diri ke psikiater dan ia menyadari dirinya telah berusaha untuk bunuh diri. Ia mengalami transformasi ketika bertemu dengan sosok orang yang nasibnya lebih malang darinya.
