Considering all of the wild improbabilities that occur in Jaws 2, I was most surprised by the fact that Larry Vaughn was still the mayor of Amity. Which further proves that y'all are fucked and better start practicing your Trump Salute.
Attempts by capital to package and rebrand the world in which we are as an administered hedonic experience available for purchase or subscription are neither designed to succeed nor capable of success, as they are only a lure in advance of the maw.
I think we've got another shark problem.

With Jaws being the first summer blockbuster, it's appropriate that Jaws 2 is one of the first examples of a cash grab sequel. It stars an actor that was contractually forced to do the film, co-stars the studio's president's wife in a bigger role forced on the film makers and the studio fired anyone that attempted to do anything original or progress an actual story from the events of the first film.
Director John D. Hancock and his wife, screenwriter Dorothy Tristan, worked on the pre-production for 18 months. They were doing a story with a dark tone that included having Amity in financial ruin in the wake of the first…
Hooptober 5.0 - 2018 - Film #16
You know the drill. Big fish with blood lust. Chews its way through a mediocre cast that has more flesh ripped out of their bodies by shark teeth than they have meat in their characters. If Jaws was the inaugural summer block buster then Jaws 2 sets the mould for the facile and formulaic sequel.
This movie pretty much bored me shitless. Roy Schieder as police chief, Brody, basically runs about town like a headless chook, crying out shark warnings as though he is the sole voice of reason. Once again it falls on deaf ears. Boring! Been there done that in a better movie. It was called Jaws.
Speaking of Jaws, it…
It’s a bit rubbish and if you compare it to the first one it’s a disgrace. Saying that I had fun watching this with my daughter who loved jaws and has been hassling to watch this one ever since. Both actually had a good time and it helped she just sat and asked questions pretty much non stop. I would have been terrified at her age to watch these things but she seems to love them. No doubt jaws 3 will be watched fairly soon!
To be honest, I've never felt comfortable with the defence of Jaws 2 that it was bound to suffer being in the shadow of the original.
I say that as a fan of the film as well. It's not really a very good excuse when you consider what has been achieved with some sequels throughout cinema history to truly great originals. As a fan of Jaws 2, quite possibly one of THE biggest fans, I haven't seen one negative review of this film that I have vehemently disagreed with. It's probably just as riddled with faults and flaws as all the naysayers say it is.
For some reason though, even from when I was a kid when I…
Surprisingly not the worst movie I've ever seen. It's not even the worst shark movie I've seen. This film was greatly helped, I think, by the fact that Roy Scheider returned.
Misses iconic moments. Show too much fake shark—should’ve used more restraint like original. Though it was real out there to see Brody just emptying a pistol into a crowded beach trying to hit a shark 100 yards off
