This movie feels like the story of an entire season of a K-Drama condensed into a single movie - perhaps because of the fact that it seems as if subplots come and go, centering around the love life of Won-sang and his life at home. But at the same time, I think that where Park Chan-ok succeeds here is how she directs the feeling of everlasting loneliness and dissatisfaction with where young people can find themselves with their own search for companionship, especially when something is eating them up.
Park Hae-il's performance might be one of the best of his career at that, because he's embodying that sense of reservedness that ends up heartbreaking the more it goes on. He carries that loneliness with him everywhere he goes, and even when he thinks he's got something going for him, it just feels as if everything around him has crushed him into nothing.
