Poor old Jennifer's Body. This movie gets a lot of hate, and it deserves none of it. Maybe it's because Diablo Cody is a controversial writer; maybe it's because Megan Fox is considered to be a bad actress; maybe it's because it was marketed as a sexy movie for boys when it's actually a movie about female friendship. Maybe it's all of the above.
But while this movie has been written off as a trashy failed experiment in horror comedy, it's actually a thoughtful, perceptive, and scary examination of what it means to be a teenage girl. You could see its two main characters, Jennifer and Needy, as stereotypes; at first glance, they look like the archetypal teen girl characters,…
the fact that the scene when needy says “you’re killing people!” and then jennifer goes “no, i’m killing boys” didn’t make it to the final cut of this movie is a hate crime i think
"There's a midnight showing of Rocky Horror at the Bijou next friday night."
"I don't like boxing movies."
12 years late to this party. Bad marketing kept me from seeing this film back in the day. But I finally gave it a proper watch and LOVE it! Smart, funny and beautifully directed. Wish we had more films like this these days.
Watched on Blu-ray rented from Netflix
