my favorite out of the five early shorts, say what you will but oh my god this delivers so much more, the autoethnographic hybridity and also the essential affective charm in diary film of a sense of experience and loss , no matter how you put it. i think maybe i just really dig anything about youth and alienation but how can you not love these stories about a confused sexuality turning to an oppositional queerness?
although not most apt for this short, from catherine russell (Autoethnography: Journeys of the Self ):
"Her use of found footage refers back only to herself as an ethnographic referent, a body whose sexuality, youth, and appearance are not fixed, but in transit among a plethora of intertexts. By fragmenting her body into the image sphere of pixelvision, she becomes completely textual, a constellation of effects that are quite removed from the verbally nar rated “I,” and from the name of the videomaker."
