Futility-driven-advancement because the heart won't let go of what the world already has. The reclamation of failure as a triumph to inspire even if what it inspires are more failures. What is more powerful than a mother's love, except for her daughter's? Its commodification. We love nevertheless.
”We’re here, but it’s looking bleak”
So here’s an A.I. morality tale about why you should never subscribe to a tech company’s cheaper commercial package. Sure it might be free, but you just know they’re gonna be using your mom’s data for all kinds of freaky stuff.
I’m also not sure why we needed all that extra world building exposition over and over again, if it was never going to come into play and had very little to do with the story being told.
In other news, I’m eagerly looking forward to the day I finally find out that I’m actually an android... because it’ll explain so much.
”You’re just the chairman’s toy!”

"We will develop the best combat command AI which has all her tactical and combat skills as well as her strong loyalty and determination. We're going to name this program JUNG_E."
I'm really tired of these absolutely generic science fiction films that really think they've done something in this genre. JUNG_E doesn't even manage to be mediocre, but an absolute disaster. One expects more from the director of the zombie smash "Train to Busan".
The trailer didn't really appeal to me, nonetheless I expected at least a beautiful world that ultimately didn't work out. It's pretty basic how this world was created, you don't learn much either, you don't see enough, and that's not…
All the ingredients that make JUNG_E have potential, good drama, good action and a good world built around them. But the action is very scarce, most of the characters are annoying and the story has a good start but ends up disappointing.
If you ever wondered what Ghost in the Shell, Edge of Tomorrow and I, Robot would be like if they had shitty effects and only two crappy action scenes, Netflix has you covered.
Come for the Atmos track in the first 10 minutes and stay for the….actually, you know what? You can just leave after that. Unless you have at least 4 speakers in your ceiling, don’t watch any of this sub-Blomkampian reheated sci-fi gruel.
Fuck you Netflix. You ruined movies. You ruined TV. You ruined everything.
Score : 7/10 ✅
Starts like a cinematic version of the video game Vanquish, which got me very excited. Then takes a turn into existentialism and ethics about living among clones and the idea of becoming one. Something I can get behind because I thought it was pretty interesting to be very honest. It ends with pretty entertaining and highly functional action sequences that I really liked. I even rewatch the last 20 minutes again because the amount of small details in the fight/escape scene is nice to look at.
I don’t consider JUNG_E to be a weak Sci-fi film, it got strong elements attached to it. It’s well-made and it addresses adequate questions about our relation to our mortality…
Some good action sequences, pretty ok CGI and some cool robots vs. wooden acting and unnecessary awkward humour.
