Did not expect to see a mafia subplot in a Disney movie. Jungle 2 Jungle has its moments and isn’t terrible by any means but it’s still dull, boring and devoid of any real laughs or charm. Tim Allen and Martin Short are decent enough but even they look bored to be there and it doesn’t help that the plot is beyond predictable and goes in every single direction you’d expect it to. There’s some cute moments and it’s heart is clearly in the right place but this is the definition of uninspired and lazy.
I haven’t seen this movie in over a dozen years but it still is and will always be my most watched movie. Idk why the Chaganty fam decided this was the holy grail of family films to watch growing up, but we loved this movie and would watch it together every week. Even used to watch with my grandma. Watching it now is not that different, but a couple things stick out: (1) this movie is lowkey super fucking racist. Idk. The whole white Indian thing really doesn’t fly anymore. Doesn’t feel right. (2) The score. Holy shit this score has no right being this good. It honestly feels like A R Rahman made it and maybe that’s why I like it so much. It’s genuinely very good. Anyways I can’t critique this movie. It’s legendary status in my household. Every scene, every line, every facial expression, and every cue is iconic. Love this movie so much it hurts.
