If I had a nickel for every time, Gerald Butler fights his way through a foreign country for survival in a 2023 actioner, with a male POC sidekick, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
If I had a nickel for every time Edward Snowden is mentioned, by a female character exposing the truth in a 2023 political thriller/drama, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
If I had a nickel for every time an interpreter assists the white male protagonist in a 2023 actioner, working for the US, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Passable, but ultimately unspectacular. Kandahar goes through the motions, and Butler is capable as always. There's a cool night-vision set piece, at least!
