my dad's new favorite movie of all time. we both really like the fargo tv show and i kept seeing him nod his head and laugh it was really cute i love keanu but i hate letterboxd
Not nearly as funny or wacky as the premise promises and there's nothing memorable here in the slightest, but Keanu still works due to the two leads and their fabulous chemistry and quite a few really hysterical moments.
This seems like a pretty underrated film. It's a charmer, mostly because it captures the usual friendly but competitive character dynamic that makes so many Key & Peele sketches function, and it operates with their usual banter speed and their awareness of racial stereotypes, code switching, cultural expectations around black Americans, and fragile male egos. It's no Get Out, but as "comedy writers go from five-minute sketches to 90-minute movie" achievements go, it beats Saturday Night Live by a country mile.
Aside from some tonal inconsistencies, and a few jokes that fall flat, "Keanu" still delivers big laughs frequently. This is a consistently hilarious, well paced, and ridiculously entertaining comedy all in thanks to its fantastic comedic performances and chemistry between the two leads, tons of memorable and quotable scenes, and some beautiful cinematography. The best straight up comedy of the year.
i burst into tears every time the cat was on screen. i'm not even joking, i'm just really hormonal right now.
”Don't let Anna Faris tare us apart.”
Underrated comedy gold. This is my Hot Fuzz. Between Jordan Peele’s facial expressions, and Keegan-Michael Key’s vocal inflections, I was in stitches from start to finish.
And dont get me started on that OG George Michael. 😂
this film was being advertised around the same time that nine lives was being advertised last year so i had come to the conclusion that they were the same film and it was about keanu reeves turning into a cat and he had to be saved by these two dudes and tbh i am disappointed that was not the case
As smart about identity politics as Dear White People and as amusing a spoof of Michael Bay movies as, well, Pain & Gain.

it was all because of a cat, and it was all worth it! pretty funny and Keanu is such a cutie.
