2018 Directed by James Marsh
London, England, April 2015. Brian Reader, a retired thief, gathers an unlikely gang of burglars to perpetrate the biggest and boldest heist in British history. The thieves assault the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company and escape with millions in goods and money. But soon the cracks between the gang members begin to appear when they discuss how to share the loot.

This is a mess. It’s tonally all over the shop and feels like it’s a vehicle solely to facilitate old male actors to say “cunt” as much as possible. Your dad is gonna fucking love it mind.

”I'll have you for chunks!”
A series of dreary and dull sequences that fill up the two-hour running time with five old decrepit white men with just their loose skin keeping everything together, trying to outdo each other with generic monologues and the use of each and every four worded obscenity imaginable present. An unironic British tragedy.

charlie cox looking cute as fuck wearing a jumper and having a pencil tucked behind his ear was the only thing i enjoyed. my dad laughed a lot though so that was nice

king of thieves is truly terrible but i do receive solace from the fact that michael caine, michael gambon and jim broadbent probably loved making this.... thinking of them having the most fun running around and swearing at each other :,)
Quite good. Very well done and these veteran actors were great to watch! Michael Caine is part of a gang of older men thieves who are struggling at life. Money is gone and day to day life is dull. Well at a funeral the old gang gets together and decides to do one last score. A group of safe deposit boxes at the HATTON GARDENS. The men all resume their positions and make a fantastic plan. But some are older and their skills aren’t what they were. But they go ahead and the robbery begins. It’s great! Michael Caine is perfect. Watch it!
Despite the strong cast, there is not much to love about this film. It inspires itself in films like "The Italian Job" and other british heist films from the 1960's, relying mostly on how much we like these actors and how much charisma they can have, rather in the actual sequences.
A lot of jokes about seniority are thrown in the box, but they don't hit the right notes in order to be comedy gold or a simple showcase of the tolls of being older.
A straightforward, unspectacular crime caper whose promising cast and intriguing story are wasted by the film's lacklustre execution. It cashes in on the genre's past glories without bringing any sense of style or grit to it itself, leaving it to the naturally-talented ensemble to balance the tonal inconsistencies and uneven script. Still, it's watchable enough in the most simple way and provides the most rudimentary level of entertainment.
King of Thieves fuckin’ steals some safety deposit boxes from Hatton fuckin’ Garden yeah, by bringing together some high-class British fuckin’ talent ennit, but fuck me it was the most boring fuckin’ heist ever where these casually racist/homophobic old geezers were fuckin’ detestable and fuckin’ swore in every sentence from this fuckin’ expletive screenplay that didn’t know if it was a fuckin’ comedy, fuckin’ drama or a fuckin’ thriller. Now, fuckin’ fuck off will ya.
The problem with gold is the effect it has on people. It drives them crazy.
The opening credits are fantastic and the casting is incredible which sets you up for what could be one of the best heist movies in years…
….and then it starts to bog down, and slowly, scene by scene, all the energy drains away until you’ve lost all emotional investment and the whole thing falls flat.
I really wish this movie had lived up to the promise and energy of those opening credits, that would’ve been flawless.
Bonus Points for the song choices, especially in the first half.

I feel like I’m the only person on here that actually really enjoyed this, I love seeing Jim Broadbent deliver a great turn as one nasty bastard, I love the chemistry between the cast and the heist is fun.
