Another of Edward G. Robinson's gangster comedies. This might be my favorite so far. And look at this list of character actors: Broderick Crawford, Jack Carson, Anthony Quinn, Edward Brophy, Harry Davenport, John Qualen, and a very young Jackie Gleason! And a very young Jane Wyman!
Some guys get out of Sing-Sing prison in New York and want to go straight and buy a dog racing track in Florida. The bank in New York won't loan them the money. They buy the store next door to the bank to tunnel under and into the bank. Once they get the dough they will get the track and go straight. Lots of complications ensue. They don't want any customers but they keep getting lots of business and all the other neighborhood store owners keep coming over and getting in his business.
I almost gave it four stars.
