  Released under the Frightfest Presents banner as a way to get some of the smaller films shown at the festival a digital release. This feature debut from writer/director Benjamin R. Moody is an interesting twist on the slasher flick that marks him out as someone to keep an eye on.
  Starting where most slasher films end, this movie looks at what happen's to the final girl after she slay's the masked psychopath who's responsible for killing all her friends.   Hoop-Tober 2016, Final Entry

  Last Girl Standing is something I never thought I'd see. It's gotten some pretty sub-par reviews by the majority of those who've watched it. I totally understand the slack it gets. Not everyone's interested in a dramatic storyline taking place in the world of a horror movie. However, I couldn't help but fall in complete love with this beautiful story of post traumatic stress recovery. The movie shows us that within the narrative of every horror film lies a regular world unaffected by that of niche genre storytelling. One where you and I live. One where we don't understand the horrors of having one's entire friendship ring destroyed by that of a crazed embodiment of evil.…

  Friday the 13th: Part 2 begins with Alice, the surviving Final Girl from Friday the 13th, at home, having evidently settled back into her mundane life, although very much still easily spooked by anything that might be a psycho killer (though is usually just a cat).   I really love the idea of this movie, which is basically just an exploration of the PTSD of a final girl from a slasher movie, but the movie goes out of the way to make the girl seem crazy and irrational, which stunts the viewers ability to buy what the writing is trying to sell.

  It's impossible to feel sympathy or any kind of connection to her because nothing she does makes sense, and having her wake up out of a nightmare every few scenes tells us she's scared, but that's about all the character we get from her.

  The third act pulls a twist, but It's a super predictable one, and one that seems like the least creative or interesting route to go with given all the options you could choose with this concept.

  Que sucede con la "Final Girl" la única sobreviviente de un Slasher luego de que la película acaba?
  Este es el concepto que trata de manejar esta producción y realmente es una premisa interesante.
  Actuaciones regulares, pero es normal en este tipo de películas, los efectos de asesinatos son buenos, obviamente iba a ser también un slasher, tiene un elemento psicológico que le da un buen toque; es super predecible pero al menos yo no esperaba mas, se pasa el rato entretenido.

  I may have just watched my potential horror film of the year. I absolutely loved this film! Its a slasher, its a drama, and its a character study. This film has layers to it and does it while creating a really likable group of people in the process. I have always loved slashers and I`m not easily impressed anymore but this one really blew me away. I`m easily giving this film 5/5 stars.

  Last Girl Standing is a novel spin on the slasher formula, opening with the final chase but focusing primarily on the surviving final girl Camryn, and her dealing with both her physical and psychological scars, but also survivors guilt. It’s an intriguing prospect, opening with what is traditionally the pay-off for the subgenre, the movie manages to sustain momentum with the mystery of a killer who has seemingly returned from the grave. Camryn is visibly fragile, her quirks endearing, her newly forged friendship with Danielle is touching, and their relationship proves hauntingly significant in the final scenes.
