Living as I do on the other side of the Atlantic I don't have that same connection with Roger Ebert that American film fans do, I grew up with Barry Norman telling me what to watch. But obviously he's someone who I have become very much aware of.
This then is the story of his life, well it's half the story of his life and half the story of his death because throughout the film he is shown battling the cancer which has riddled his body. And in that regard it's not an easy watch.
It's nice to see and hear the likes of Scorsese and Herzog talk about him with affection but heartbreaking to see his laid low by the ravages of the disease which is taking over his body.
I only wish I had one hundredth of his ability to put across how a movie makes me feel.
