Loitering with Intent has the distinction of being the worst piece of crap that I have ever seen at a film festival. The script is beyond terrible. Pure drivel. I cannot understand how the film got accepted to the Tribeca Film Festival. Moreover, I cannot understand how accomplished actors like Sam Rockwell and Marissa Tomei got talked into accepting roles in it. There's only one half-decent scene in the entire film. The scene involves Rockwell and Tomei, who are lovers, talking about making their relationship work. I wouldn't mind seeing Rockwell and Tomei pair up in another, much better film. They have chemistry.
The third film from the director of Winter Passing (Adam Rapp) is written by its two leads (Ivan Martin & Michael Godere). They play two struggling actors in their late 30’s, who work at the same bar, and after running into a producer friend (Natasha Lyonne) in the park they bluff their way into pitching a movie they’re “in the process of writing.” When she shows interest, they are locked into a deadline of finishing it by the end of the weekend, so they head to a country house owned by Godere’s sister (Marisa Tomei) to write the script. sam rockwell should be allowed to sing in more movies 🤨 his voice is truly so joyful to listen to but somehow this movie could not be improved by his presence it’s not you sam it’s the un-followability of this plot and the complete lack of emotion i feel towards every single character
