The film is a dramatization of a man at different points in the D.E.N.N.I.S. System (made famous by Dennis Reynolds) with several different women, along with what seemed like a rape scene.
It's themes might have resonated more with me if I was single, but most of this really didn't jive with me. It might have worked better if he subtly dropped a Magnum condom demonstrating his magnum dong.
Lol. One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. “Oh woe is me, look how #deep I am as I go around hitting on every single woman I find but find no pleasure in it.” Am I supposed to give a single fuck about this lead character? Either I am, and I’m supposed to find him brooding and damaged as he “struggles” through life fucking copious amounts of women completely lifelessly, or I’m not, and this is supposed to be a sort-of excoriation of contemporary culture of tinder-obsessed people disconnecting from each other despite more connectivity than ever before, to which I say lol at least think of something original. It’s absurd how every woman in this film finds this…
no one has heard of this, let alone seen it but it's one of the best films of the year so far, a profound, deeply moving experience about a man's connections with a series of women. he's unsure of what he wants in romance, in women and because of this, some of the genuinely meaningful connections he makes fade away, whether it be him drifting off in the morning, or being left alone, his partner for that moment moving on to someone who wants more. and in the end, the physical pleasures don't feel the same. there are the light hearted moments of humour, the absolutely beautiful moments of true connection even it's not realised by him afterwards and the…
There should be something tedious about watching a man barhop and hold natural conversations with a variety of women before sleeping with most of them. There shouldn't be much of a film to enjoy watching as the plot is basically that. It's not War & Peace. So I'm not sure why I found myself utterly riveted by this man, a young lad happy to drift and fuck his way through any woman who'll take him, hurting a few along the way and having barely a redeeming feature about him...but I did. Strange one.
I quite literally cannot explain how I made it though this entire movie about a man being sad that he gaslights and has sex with so many crazy sexy women but Shiloh Fernandez looks just enough like Christian from Midsommar that I can just pretend in my mind that Midsommar is the sequel where the main character gets what he deserves
Guy sleeps with one girl after another and that's it. What's the point of watching this?
very surprised to come here & find out i've actually already watched this movie bc i have no recollection of it. thank you letterboxd for always teaching me something new <3
Carried by Shiloh Fernandez's (EVIL DEAD) captivating performance and a highly interesting and beautiful women support cast (Helen Rogers, Natalia Dyer, Ella Rae Peck, Christine Evangelista, and my favorite indie queen Addison Timlin), LONG NIGHTS SHORT MORNINGS is a compelling and realistic view on (male) modern day dating. Love, friendship, relationships, sex, doubt, and expectations sometimes get intertwined in a massive emotional chaos, because often everyone is looking for something different at a different time of their lives.
