  letterboxd need to start including animals in cast lists. i NEED to know more about that dog. who is he? what’s his name? how can i get him an oscar? he carries the entire film, he deserves his name next to dylan o’brien’s!!

  Michael Matthews’ “Love and Monsters” is the rarest kind of movie these days: A fun, imaginative, genre-mashing adventure that was made with a modest amount of big studio money and destined for a theatrical release despite not being adapted from a comic book or carried by a major star. Well, maybe “destined” isn’t the right word, as a certain pandemic (you know the one) came along and compelled Paramount to scuttle a multiplex release in favor of a VOD play. And while it might be legally accurate to say that “Love and Monsters” isn’t based on pre-existing material, it couldn’t be more obvious that it was conceived by someone who saw “Zombieland” on TV one night and thought to themselves:…

  Ich bin tatsächlich ein bisschen traurig geworden beim Gucken von „Love & Monsters“. Nicht weil der Film allzu dramatische Höhen erklimmen würde. Dafür ist das hier viel zu leichtfüßig und verspielt. Nein. „Love & Monsters“ ist die Sorte Film, die es selbst in einer normalen Filmwelt schwer hätte, zwischen Superhelden-Omnipräsenz und Franchise-Dauerfeuer aufzufallen. Nun ist gerade aber eben gar nichts normal, weshalb Paramount dieses Kleinod mitten in die Pandemie und damit das sichere VOD-Vergessen released hat.

  Und wie tragisch das wäre! „Love & Monsters“ ist die Sorte Film, die gefühlt kaum noch gemacht wird. Kreativ und witzig, bevölkert von schrulligen, aber liebenswürdigen Charakteren, voller ergreifender Momente und großem Abenteuer wie in den guten, alten Zeiten des Kinos.   now THIS is a FUN MOVIE! dylan o brien does a FANTASTIC job, this role was made for him( it was giving stiles stilinski in an apocalypse but i digress.) i loved the cool stylistic choice for a monster apocalypse, it was so fun and such a fresh exciting story to watch, i loved seeing a new post apocalyptic world that i didn’t know the rules of! very surprised that i loved this so much but i really would recommend to so many people if i could, sweet fun and built an interesting world! 

  nominated at the oscars for visual effects? yeah i get it, i thought it was partially practical effects, but idk i just thought it looked great and didn’t go uncanny valley, but this is also from a girl who knows nothing about vfx. 

  MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS. LET PEOPLE HAVE FUN AND MAKE MONSTER APOCALYPSE MOVIES! thank you for this amazing movie i love!!!!!!

  Even after several movies and shows based on the theme of a post-apocalyptic world Hollywood somehow manages to come up with an entertaining flick now and then, and this time it's LOVE AND MONSTERS, I didn't have many expectations from it because first, it's a Hollywood movie second there isn't much left that can be done in this genre and can be called as original, but still, it was a blast, the director knows that its a worn-out genre and so doesn't try to take things seriously hence it becomes naturally funny most of the time, with great creature effects and mostly likeable cast and my man Dylan O'Brien, carries the entire film and was amazing throughout the movie, and…
