Part 14
"The cosmos is already speaking it's own truth"
Oh yes, favourite episode here we go! Watching it now for like, the 100th time. Zima Blue is everything I ever wanted out of an animated short, and more. Beautiful animation with a very clever mix of 2D and 3D aesthetics, incredible use of lighting, colour and a unique style. The music, the story and the voice acting all contribute to it's perfection, of course.
It's so touching and so deeply human, I just can't stop loving it.
The strongest of the LD+R shorts by far - stylishly animated, beautifully graphical, elegantly philosophical, and all without the need for gunfire, explosions, or roaring maws of monstrous beasts. Wonderful.
A poetic, yet sad reflection on artist in general.
Unique animation, great voice acting and story.
You know, for a show with sex, nudity, action and sometimes unneeded swearing - I'm surprised we got episodes like this.
YES! This is what I was holding out for! A Love Death and Robots short that DIDNT RELY ON SHOCK VALUE OR EDGY COMEDY AND TITS!!!
It's an episode that's adult because of its thematic meanings and it ideas and concepts and not just "haha the man say a curse word and then bleeds while a lady with boobies there".
And it's really good, the comic-book like animation is fantastic, the voice acting was great, score was really good, and again it's held up by its story. FOR ONCE THE STORY IS AS GOOD AS THE VISUALS OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!
yeah, good short
Just fucking gorgeous to look at, with a unique style of animation and heavy uses of black and blue. The story is heartwarming and the short as a whole is strangely euphoric.
"Zima Blue" is a solid piece of existential Sci-Fi. This short focuses on an artist (Zima Blue) who's searching for meaning in his art. Out of the blue he decides to speak to a journalist about his life after a 100 year silence. The jagged, funky animation is slick with beautiful scenery and unique silhouettes. And whilst the story wasn't particularly ground-breaking, the overall tone and poingnancy makes this a standout in this series.
''They called it Zima Blue''
Literally everything Love Death & Robots should have been from the start.
The world is fascinating, the story takes full advantage of its sci-fi elements in new and exciting ways, and it's absolutely beautiful.
Weirdly poignant for something that's so silly on the surface.
It's like a dark, weird Kurt Vonnegut story.
Perhaps they only good thing to come out of this whole series, story wise, of course.
Just one of those things that’s the perfect version of itself...HEY WAIT THATS LIK-
Yo listen up here’s a story, about a little guy that lives in a blue world, and all day and all ni-
LD&R is an incredible series, and I think Zima Blue is my favorite by far. The ability to tell such a beautiful story within 10 minutes really is impressive, and I love Zima's character. His final piece was really spectacular to watch evolve, and then the sudden twist exposing the reality of it all.
Flawless art direction with an incredible story. I honestly might have preferred if it had less dialogue - the stark movement and huge scale framing speaks for itself.
Uno de los mejores cortometrajes que vi hasta ahora, con una animación y un guion impecable, lo que más me llamo la atención es el concepto y más aún el mensaje que te deja este episodio, el cual aún me sigue dando que pensar.
my favorite from the whole series by far. I love the discussion about artistic growth and creating a sense of perfection. Its handled in a really beautiful way without having the need to over or underexplain its concepts. Also a total treat to just look at, wonderfully stylish and simple in design and execution.
