Love Ranch - Wahrheit und Liebe
It’s like Casino but Joe Pesci is a pimp and Robert DeNiro is Helen Mirren.
Oh…and there’s also an Argentinian boxer that falls in love with Helen even though she’s like 25 years her senior and married to Joe Pesci (yea it’s messy)
I have no idea how award winning actors like Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci (and even Bryan Cranston in a cheeky cameo) were roped into a project like this. But, I gotta commend them. They made this movie fun and did what they could with what they had.
I certainly can’t complain about the fact that Joe Pesci would just start yelling and slapping people every five minutes for no reason and then chomping down on a fat cigar ever fifteen.
Watching Helen Mirren choke a bitch was probably the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life.
Intermittently compelling drama involving a legal brothel.
Drags during the middle act and plays like an afternoon on the Lifetime network at 2 in the afternoon.
You tolerate it because Helen Mirren is great as usual and Joe Pesci pretty much plays the character you expect him to play and there's nothing wrong with that.
20 minutes cut off would have made this movie flow better. A movie with a misleading trailer and fewer tips on pimping than you'd expect.
Would’ve been better if it’d been directed by Tom Ford! Pesci’s fine but I’m glad this will no longer be his last film.
I’m reading through this cast and seeing some favorites - Helen Mirren, Joe Pesci, Gina Gershon…keep scrolling…Scout Taylor-Compton (ok, maybe not a favorite, but still catches my eye)…Cranston…Melora Walters!!! Could this be an under the radar gem? No, it couldn’t. There’s far too much dullness for a bombastic Pesci and always elegant Mirren to overcome.
Why is the thief from home alone running a brothel?
Helen Mirren is a badass but I miss the person I was before I saw Joe Pesci lick a tit.
I was expecting a train wreck but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was pretty good. It had a pretty interesting storyline and kept me engaged. Whatever fucking material Joe Pesci has, he always delivers an incredible performance. Legit my favourite actor now. What a fucking hero
It's good, if a little slight. Mirren owns this from start to finish and Pesci is good as her shitball husband.
Hackford is very hit or miss with me but this was pretty entertaining throughout thanks to the albeit standard story and the look of the whole thing. Just wish it could've been more.
