"Humans are hilarious."
I fuckin enjoyed it. It's not a perfect film especially on the script, But I had a LOT of fun! Stunning costumes, the same as the first. Mesmerizing visuals, colorful and floral. Most importantly, DIAVAL! :vvv.
Please give Maleficent a partner! Huft
Angelina Jolie is the baddest bitch. Period.
I wonder who was the fucker at Disney that pitched this and thought, "Hey, what if Shrek 2 but then it turns into season 8 of Game of Thrones while having it also be an introduction to the concept of genocide for kids?!"
I am probably being too generous with my rating. But I really thought this film was gorgeous to look at, from the set design, to the costumes, to the CGI backgrounds (lol). Plus I love fairy tales. It didn't have any shocking moments nor did it upend any clichés. But that's OK. Much like rom coms, fairy tale adaptations are comfort food. Sometimes you just need them to lighten up your bad day.
The DNA of good old Walt must be alive and kicking because I swear I just watched a kids movie involving a supremacist dictator starting a race war and converting a church into a gas chamber WOO WEEEEEE.

Genuinely thought Maleficent and Queen Ingrith would’ve fallen in love and run away together but I am more than happy with what happened !
Angelina Jolie with horns and wings>>>Blue Will Smith>>>>>Emtionless CGI lions>>>>GoT Season 8
As usual, production design is top notch. As usual, cgi looks 7 years dated. As usual, Angelina Jolie is impossible to look away from. As usual, the script is lackluster at best setting up weak convoluted lore and flat characters. As usual, the costumes made my jaw drop. And, finally, as usual, the prince Phillip is definitely the same actor and not a way derpier version Brenton Thwaites.
I could write a whole book on how passable movies make me more mad than bad ones. This one is on the bad end of passable and unnecessary. But if you have someone like my girlfriend who likes this fantasy aesthetic and this sleeping beauty AU, you watch and laugh at it with her and make not as many negative comments as you’d like to.
We had a good time tearing apart this movie but truly can’t recommend it nor give more than a star and a half.
Une histoire très intéressante et touchante qui tire vers des messages quant aux comportements de l'Homme
This sequel doesn't justify its own existence.
2014's Maleficent while an ok movie overall gave an interesting spin on the classic Sleeping Beauty story.
This movie starts off with an opening 40 minutes that are actually pretty good however everything after that becomes bogged down by its own plot that tries to add unnesascary lore to Malicificent's story.
The fx are well done and Angelina Jolie returns with a solid performance as Maleficent but sadly the film around her doesn't hold up.
Convenient, overlong, and overall not as good as the first.
⭐⭐⭐ For the first 40 minutes
My whole thing is, who cares if it's a good script or interesting storyline....that's not why we watch these kinds of movies. We watch them to see Angelina Jolie fly around as a cool and scary dark fey. We watch them because fairytale retellings give us this weird nostalgic yet angsty satisfaction. The script doesn't need to be "good" and we all know it, ya'll need to calm down.
A surprisingly enjoyable movie. Yes, there are many plot holes, however those are easily ignorable. The biggest praise from me would be that this movie actually made me laugh. Maleficent, as a character, seemed well developed, she is more flawed than not, yet still loveable. The evil queen, on the other hand, was really easy to hate, she fulfilled her role in the movie for sure.
What is more, I am surprised with how great some shots are. I especially enjoyed the play with lights and shadows.
On the other hand, some characters, like prince Phillip for example, are quite useless and boring. Nevertheless, I feel like it makes sense, considering that to keep the length of the movie proper one must make sacrifices.
All in all, I liked it. It’s a great family movie
Wicked performances from Jolie and Pfeiffer make a largely unnecessary sequel worth watching, unfortunately they don’t have nearly enough screen time together.
Creatures: CGI nonsense and makeup effects.
