A very entertaining Italian Amazon Cannibal movie. This cult classic seems not as serious as the most famous ones. Decent gore and lots of nudity! Though more like a horror adventure movie. Almost bordering on the absurd at times but a very fun movie to watch. You can check it out on Tubi.
My Severin mid-year order finally came in today (after 10+ weeks) and I decided to put this on immediately. It was pretty solid. I kind of missed the intensity found in other Italian cannibal movies. Well, maybe it isn't entirely fair to compare this to something like Cannibal Holocaust since it is more a buoyant jungle adventurer than anything else. MiDV still offers plenty of the exploitation staples however, most notably nudity/sleaze.
Like a brisk little whirlwind of colourful Italian calamity Massacre in Dinosaur Valley delivers all sorts of unconventional entertainment. An unusual mix of an upbeat Adventure film and sleazy cannibal exploitation. The overly dramatic acting, hilarious dubbing and theatrics blast the screen with unadulterated lunacy.
A plane carrying a bunch of fossil hunters crashes in the Amazon jungle. The passengers are thrown into a harrowing tale of survival as they have to fight off cannibals, wild animals and slave traders! And award to the most dramatic crash scene goes to this movie! Everyone flinging around frantically while it switches between shots of a little toy airplane! Nailedddddd it!
Feels like crocodile Dundee mixed with an Italian soap opera mixed with…
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley contains the most incredible plane crash by a toy aeroplane cut into scenes of screaming women and hopeless men that I've ever seen. Pure Airplane! style comedy gold.
Nudo e selvaggio is the original Italian title for this feast of everything unholy in the jungle, which translates to Naked and Wild according to Ms. Google, and that's probably more fitting than the English moniker provided for the global market, or it's alternative title: Cannibal Ferox II.
In summary, Kevin the dinosaur bone hunter (you just can't make this shit up man) goes to the Amazon in search of more ancient things and makes an unplanned pit stop in cannibal country. Things get a little bitey and,…
The beginning point of the brief resurrection of the Italian cannibal cycle of the 80s that still has enough sleaze and gory violence to hold it's own in the brazen savagery of the subgenre.
A group of idiots and arseholes with varying motives all suffer the fakest looking plane crash I've ever seen whilst flying over the Amazon rainforest (which may have something to do with the fact that the steering wheel is obviously not attached to anything), leaving them stranded near the infamous Dinosaur Valley. In order to survive they must traverse a savage cannibal cult who worship ancient dinosaur bones, sadistic diamond hunters, ravenous pirahnas and the jungle itself.
It has all the hallmarks of exploitation. Sumptuous gore,…
Sure, it’s got cannibals, slavers, crocs, piranhas, a toxic-alpha Vietnam vet, and a plane crash. Know what it doesn’t have? Dinosaurs!
I wasn’t actually expecting dinos. This doesn’t have the budget (although that didn’t stop fellow Italian director George Eastman from putting one in METAMORPHOSIS!). Heavy on nudity; at the low low cost of dignity, I’m sure.
Barely makes it into the cannibal sub-genre courtesy of a heart-eating — a sign of respect in some cultures, or so i hear — but what it lacks in horror it makes up for in…well, the action set pieces aren’t great, either, but it does run the entire cinematic gamut of things that befall Westerners stranded in the jungle. It certainly isn’t slow!
I’ve never seen a film by this director before, but it gave me huge Mattei & Fragasso vibes. Fun C-tier Italio-trash.
Eli Roth came to my house tonight and forced me to watch this film with him.
It turned out the be a very enjoyable time.

Group of colorful characters find themselves stranded in Amazon after their plane crashes. They argue amongst themselves while evading a native cannibal tribe, wild animals, the steamy jungle terrain, and ruthless slave traders. It's the 80s so there's lots of nudity, some practical gore, leeches, and a rather upbeat score. This is basically a super sleazy Italian version of Indiana Jones imho. Complete with a low rent version of Harrison Ford in exploitation maverick Michael Sopkiw(Devilfish, Blastfighter, 2018: After The Fall of New York). His one liners had me lmao a couple times. I enjoyed it alot!
Another quality Severin blu ray release in the books!
"when kids buy a ticket to MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY they wanna see one thing: sexy dames and plenty of em!" - some italian evading prosecution for his role in the 1974 piazza della loggia bombing that left 8 dead & over 100 wounded
forget the title cuz this is no lost-world brontosaur adventure, just semi-racist, def sexist* cannibsploitation but dumber, cartoonier & more...jaunty? than any of the 70s ones, looking great as it zips thru beautiful locations to frizzi's awesome blastfighter score & the funniest plane crash since TERROR IN THE JUNGLE. michael sopkiw kicks ass*

There is a charming, lighthearted touch to this adventurous cannibal exploitation flick. Character dynamics are surprisingly well presented. It makes for plenty of fun, and also proves to be a very silly type of romance that was very entertaining to watch. It's like Romancing the stone, but with cannibal tribes, slave traders and a fair share of bare skin included. Sleaze alore in this. The whole thing has a mischievous, pleasant feel to it, but towards the ending gets into some nastier, bloodier, and more meanspirited territory also. But even with that having said, the fun factor is ramped up to the max in this campy and ridiculous, funny and wildly enjoyable ride.
One of the things I love most about Italian genre films is that the idea of "more is better" is not quite good enough; "most is better" is, well, better. Why settle for a few tropes when 88 minutes is clearly enough time for all the tropes! Let me give you an example of the pure plethora of jungle-adventure treats this film has in store for you:
- Cool handsome hero with a shotgun
- Models doing jungle photo shoot
- Cock fighting
- Hero getting beat up in a charming way
- Out of nowhere sex scene
- Shower boobies
- Ugly loud drunk lady
- Wild plane crash
- Vietnam vet asshole
- Leeches
- Eating Leeches
-…
