as a black metal elitist gatekeeper I wish I could give this negative stars
As a metalhead i love this kind of movies, they are my guilty pleasure. I know the story can be generic and full of clichés, but i love the music references and the cameos, and sometimes i feel related to the characters.
Any metalhead who hates on this isn't a real metalhead. Or probably some Black Metal Gatekeeper Nazi dickhead.
Sure, it's cheesy and a bit cringe, but it's also fun and I'm happy that this great genre and subculture gets some mainstream exposure - my only criticism on it would be that it's barely about metal itself. I mean, the only character who's actually into metal is a real dick and basically the source of all the main character's problems even though he's supposedly his best friend - I'm well aware that's the point of the plot but it kind of taints the positive sides of metal, as all source of metal within this movie comes from this person?
Either way, a fun time. It inspired me to go online and place an order for some band patches to finally continue working on my battle vest! 🤘
Also: Metal is gay as fuck, let's celebrate it!
look I’m all for bringing back the Superbad era of irreverent misfits creating chaos for a thin plot line but I think we can do better than this!!
All this did was make me wanna watch School of Rock and Dinner in America again
So could be worse
The gay metal imagery montage set to Grinder by Judas Priest is a cinematic masterpiece in its own right.
