oh man i really just wanna say this is a beautiful & tender movie about finding genuine connection amid the alienated thrall of late capitalism but putting the words "beautiful" & "tender" next to "molester’s train: dirty behavior" feels wrong
Sato made 900 movies about lonliness, vouyerism, yearning, pain, psychology, lust, depression, society and they're all called shit like "Sexual Assault Carnival 4: The Sexening."
Hisayasu Satô's entry in the ridiculously bloated Molester/Groper Train subgenre is a very underrated affair. Molester’s Train: Dirty Behavior, or, by its more appropriate title, Birthday, is a great example of Satô's obsessions. Voyeurism, loneliness, video/technology fetishisation—it's all here in abundance. And, happily, it's presented with the skill and thought you'd expect. Birthday even adds a surprising layer of kindness. Unlike a typical Satô film, this is not particularly bleak (and that's despite featuring a scene where two characters attempt to blow themselves up with dynamite). The relationship between Yumika Hayashi and Kôichi Imaizumi is well handled and punctuated by several intimate moments as Hayashi attempts to alter Imaizumi's depersonalised outlook. H. Satô #3 --- Not as entertaining as Celluloid Nightmares which I watched earlier this evening. But it has a more interesting story and characters. It's a drama about two lonely souls. The train from the title does appear in the movie, and so does the rape. But it's all done in a very surreal way. The look through the camera lens is a prominent feature as well. It does give you some interesting visuals, even though it isn't as visually striking as the movie mentioned above.
A sweet movie that leaves some room for interpretation. The copy I watched looked like utter shit and might have been run over by an actual train.

This is a movie about Yu's attempt to truly see Kei and thus make a real connection with another human. She offers every darkest aspect of herself willingly to a man who is unable to see without a camera. Both have been abandoned on the train by those closest to them. Fundamentally alone, these two perverts found each other 🥺😭

really underseen Sato flick but maybe the best starting point for his pink films (since I feel most people hear of him through Splatter: Naked Blood, but maybe not), it has a lot of Sato's familiar themes of alienation, voyeurism, loneliness, and they're kind of right on the surface, there's little chance of completely "missing the point" of (ugh) Molester's Train: Dirty Behavior (originally titled "Birthday," which makes more sense but is a kind of general, nonspecific title), and it really feels like there's not as much sex here as in his other movies, and especially because this one of his least mean or dismal movies--suicide plays a pretty central role, so it's not perhaps light, but there's a sweetness…
Sensitive rumination on loneliness, familial trauma & the passage of time. One of the best. As sweet & kind-hearted as it is sleazy - possibly moreso.
