sometimes it’s fun to watch a movie where all you have to say at the end is um what
I think the most succinct description of this film, other than its apt title, is the fact that it is dedicated to Jess Franco and Jean Luc Godard. With all of the razors sliding through flesh, despite not going for the eyes, it still also put me in mind of Bunuel. Its unflinching, graphic violence and sex was presented in a manner similar to Dead Man 2 or Braindead, though. It's a dream-like narrative of a young woman's sexual fears and fantasies.
While it embraces the usual pornographic close-ups of sex, it manages to at least make it interesting through its bizarre trisected shots, random impossibilities (Odile being in two places at once, for instance), and sudden shifts in tone,…
A girl's twisted nightmare (supposedly during her period) after witnessing two girls having sex at a rock concert. Sexual lust compared to the blood thirst of vampires, as pain and pleasure intertwine. Kind of like Alice in Wonderland in its surreal imagery assault, but with more wrist-cutting and castration.
On the Blu-ray, the killer from Angst does an introduction. It’s very complimentary to director Carl Andersen, who had passed away at that point. Erwin Leder actually seems like a very sweet guy, despite being so terrifying in Angst.

Jessica Franco Marena is in this... isn’t that Jess Franco’s daughter?! That’s fucking hype. I guess she only has three film credits, two of which are on this Cult Epics release.
Oh, and the music kicks ass. Kind of industrial, postpunk... I’m reminded of the films of Jorg Buttgereit and Shinya Tsukamoto.

There is legit finger banging. And look! A real blowjob! UPDATE: Now there’s a gay blowjob. UPDATE: A guy masturbating on a toilet. UPDATE: There’s an orgy.…
one of the most successfully oneiric films i've seen, preoccupied wholly with aesthetics and erotics. it's practically a photoshoot. everyone evaporates into the other, flying gracefully into indistinguishability. music is fucking excellent and there was one song that kind of sounded like xiu xiu. didn't realise there'd be as much unsimulated sex in this as there was so even though this is really cool take note of that if you want to watch something that's a pure aesthetic object trading everything else for image, extending the tangible body into the disputable realms of the screen, etc.
Beyoncé said pretty hurts, now I know why a mondo weirdo like me is always in pain!! +_+
Whether It's the 90s or now, there's always weeny mutilation in extreme cinema, which is so funny to me!! That's the climax of every single extreme cinema movie ever it seems??
Love that the music is just an 80s goth music playlist, like literally it is.
I debated if I should actually write what I had in mind throughout most of the movie since it isn't really much about the film itself.
First of all, I'm gonna say that I enjoyed this a lot, I liked the music and sound design, kept everything interesting for the ears. One moment it sounds like some circus music and the other moment you just hear some metal bucket concert. I also liked the inclusion of harming/blood and sexual activities. Stuff like that always makes me happy in movies.
Now to the part I wanted to talk about.
While watching this (mostly the moment you saw a penis) I just kept thinking to myself "I know there are people who…
There's no strange angles to write home about, how hidden away its experimental raunch or mondo vulgarity leads you to believe based on titles (alt. A Trip to Paranoia Paradise) and its underground aura. Sex and fake blood that hides under the sheen of low-res black and white so as to accentuate that (obviously) fake blood could be real and sex is oh so petrifying, can be an effective tool, lest it is all there is to offer, because "mfw modernity" none of those things are as cool (shocking) in the 90's (I just know) and even less, now. It's porn if you're too squeamish about pinku violence or sense that those are too bombastic and bare for your high-intellect (sometimes you're too smart), this is a wilted pinku because it finalizes Godard's ticks (as it declares) and aims its trajectory to his batch of forlorn aged mantras; it just misses hard.
Not sure I know what I just saw, but I'm not sure I want to watch it again to check. Plenty of surrealism on display along with graphic sex and razor blades and a truly impressive castration scene, if such things can be impressive. Moebius has nothing on this.
My main problem with the film are the aesthetics which are not my style, mind you it could be the copy I was viewing. That and the lack of a solid narrative add up to I should really learn to stop watching these types of films.
