Some of the digital animation is pretty crude, but once you get past that Monster House delivers on its zany premise and colorful characters.

Monster House felt like a combo of 'Gran Torino' and 'Disturbia' to open up with Steve Buscemi's character Nebbercracker, demanding that people stay off his lawn, while the kid from across street checks out the situation through his telescope. Fun that both those movie references came out after this one.
It took master digital animation studio Pixar years to get human characters looking good in their movies, and that was the biggest issue with the animation here. Many shots of characters looked totally unrendered at first…
