Took me back to "Naalaiya Iyakkunar"days where Pannayarum Padminiyum, Kadhalil sodhappuvadhu eppadi were shortfilms and we weren't looking into other industries for "slice of life " stories.
Perfect film to watch and cry and then have some hope, on a gloomy rainy day where no human bond is helping you to bring out the pain you have in your heart. I would very much love to see more such films coming from our industry.
obsessed with vjs playing a dad who won't stop petting dogs even though his daughter is panicking, so relatable ❤️ a lovely, extremely charming little movie, always nice to see a well executed indie project like this. several moving moments but won't lie the thing that got me right in the heart was vjs and daughter shreeja walking down the road with the exact same little awkward shuffle
Mughizh is a one hour long simple tale of a family consisting of a couple and their daughter and the changes they experienced after the entry of a pet into their lives. This film is not too short to be considered as a short film and slightly leans towards being a feature film.
The story is very simple and takes place over the course of a few days. There is a girl who is scared of dogs but her parents are very fond of them and so they get a pet dog and the girl slowly starts losing her fear and gets attached to it. These events are followed by an unexpected incident and it’s aftermath.
Vijay Sethupathi’s real daughter…
Slice of life. The film doesn't invent or reinvent the genre but its done so refreshingly candid that you can't help but root for this sweet lil film. Shreeja gives a decent debut and Sethu as always a natural but Regina is quite the surprise here in an understated homemaker role, boy her eyes speak volume. There's a lot to unpack about family love, grief, parenting, coping with loss here and how it all adds to a poignant film. Glad I caught this at a theatrical screening as it gave me an immersive viewing experience exactly what's needed for a film like this, ofcourse the interval is still a spoilsport.
Finally a Vijay Sethupathi film to celebrate after a while, which should've ideally opted for a direct OTT release than going the theatrical way. For what its worth, #Mughizh (2021) is a beautiful slice of life exploration on grief that tugs at your heartstrings, especially for pet lovers, which works also because it hardly overstays its welcome with a minimal runtime of just one hour. Vijay Sethupathi, Regina Cassandra and Sreeja Vijay Sethupathi together makes for a lovely & close-knit nuclear family. I wished if it was a tad much longer though.
Runtime: 53 mins
It felt like a proper 2hr screenplay about this family in certain time of their life. This movie runs very very slow, but perfomances from everyone lifts this screenplay much higher. I request to watch this movie. Review over.
Now that I seen this movie, I have a short story to tell. One day... I was staying with my friends. One friend suggested that "let's go to theatre". Everyone suggested a movie, I've chose this movie since I liked the trailer. But, everyone wants to see big action blockbuster movie. So, we went to F9 even though they knew I've already seen F9. Second time felt more boring than first time. Why? God Why? I'm not suggesting…
Well, this isn't the first time this year an hour-long cute little film about grief made me all warm and fuzzy.
And why do our filmmakers keep forgetting how good of an actress Regina Cassandra is
The sad thing about this beautiful film is it would go unnoticed among the long list of crappy films that VJS was/is doing/does. It's minimalist yet a beautiful film! A must watch film for dog lovers❤️
Nice small Dog story.
The dialogues could have been more innovative. I am sure half of the script was just Kavya, which kinda got annoying after a point.
Is Kavya the most used name for our “thamizh naatil porathu valarntha poonuga”? Am sure I have heard that name too many times in that context…
Extra Brownie points for casting the cuttetest dogs.
Namma naatu naaiy >>>>>>>>>>>>>> beagle
One awful performance can literally make the film underwhelming no matter how beautiful the story is. Vijay Sethupathy's daughter is a terrible miscast she hardly emotes.
