i know i am predisposed towards reading into things and if anything it is a testament to george mackay and jannis niewöhner’s acting chemistry, but i swear there were no less than half a dozen times i was absolutely convinced that their characters were going to kiss

I had no intention of watching this film, but several reviews and a recommendation from my mom's friend persuaded me to watch it.
And well, I enjoyed watching a somewhat fictionalized version of how this whole bloody war might have started, a rather unique take on the whole WWII films subgenre. For a change, we get to see the war from someone other than Churchill's perspective as we see Chamberlain as this somewhat cowardly man whose naivety and ignorance subsequently led to one of history's most tragic and devastating events. Jannis and George are both well portrayed as two underlings who try to stop the war, one overly cautious and in a sense contributes to starting the war, while the…
