I'm definitely not the first one on here to ask this, but I really want to know if any of these murals are still intact, and if intact, are they faded by time or well kept? It's hard to imagine them still being around, though, considering how signs of encroachment were already apparent in 1981. With that in mind, Agnès Varda's Mur Murs is an important document - a document of ideas, culture and art that flowed freely down the streets and alleys of L.A. in the '70s and '80s. It really is fascinating to hear the meanings behind each mural coming from the artists themselves. They draw inspiration from life, death, beauty, spirituality, and frustration. Overall, Mur Murs is a beautiful mix of different peoples and murals, and altogether, Varda manages to craft a rich, fascinating picture of time and place. God, I wish I had been there.
