This has been a dry week in terms of movie-watching, but I’ve spent the majority of the week rewatching one of the absolute best shows on tv. Everyone check out Dark on Netflix. As far as this movie goes, the trailer and I have had many battles over the past year. I saw it (not kidding) in front of every major release when I watched movies at my Cinemark. It played consistently for seven months. After multiple release dates, My Spy finally got a streaming release here in the states. Bautista either gets his version of The Game Plan here, or he could end up on the unfortunate side, with a film like Playing…
"You've opened up a part of me that's been closed off for a long time."
Like getting hugged by a particularly fluffy and oversized teddy bear, My Spy is a delightful experience of a film. It's derivative in all the ways you'd expect, with plot developments that you'll recognize even before you watch it and doused with gallons of the kind of family-friendly not-so-secret sauce relied on by the dozens of films that have preceded it. But this one's got two major welcome ingredients: Dave Bautista, the human teddy bear giving the aforementioned hug and Kristen Schaal, the infuriatingly underappreciated comedic force that more people need to love and appreciate yesterday. Chloe Coleman (who many will recognize from Big Little…

Dave Bautista sure is great in the Guardians films.
A CIA agent befriends a little girl whose mom he is surveilling... hilarity ensues. I didn't care for this film but it didn't really annoy me in any way... it's just kind of there. Every single aspect of the film is fine except for the script which is kind of a moving target, yet somehow predictable. This should definitely be rated PG or G but instead it's PG-13 creating a real gap in the audience. I can't imagine teenagers or adults finding this very funny but I think young kids would enjoy it.
Recommended to watch with children age 7-10, if you know any.

My Spy is a 2020 American action comedy film directed by Peter Segal, written by Jon and Erich Hoeber, and starring Dave Bautista, Chloe Coleman, Kristen Schaal, and Ken Jeong. The film follows a CIA agent who finds himself at the mercy of a 9-year-old girl of a family that he and his tech support is surveilling in undercover.
I am unashamedly going to admit I had a great time with this film, I like dumb shit, I laughed so much during the opening scene, the mix of music and Dave Bautista's reaction too it is a joy to watch, some of the comedy doesn't work, but a lot of it does. The script, written by Jon…
I don’t understand my family sometimes. They refused to watch Monty Python and The Holy Grail, yet they wanted to watch this mediocre and generic film more than anything. And they loved it for some reason. I don’t know if they just haven’t seen anything like this before, which they should have, but I guess here we are. My dad and my mom gave this a 4.5 out of 5 and my sister gave it 5 out of 5. Am I missing something here? There’s nothing special here, it’s not something I can hate, but I just can’t understand how they loved this so much.
Like I said, I didn’t hate this movie. It’s just something we’ve seen so many…
After seeing the preview for this in theaters for an actual year, I can officially say that the feature film adds absolutely nothing!
It's a less offensive Playing With Fire, and that isn't a good place to be.
”It’s a fine line between friendly and desperate.”
I really wanted to like this stupid movie and I liked everyone involved. Sadly though the premise is absurd, the writing’s weak and the whole thing comes off way too generic and a bit boring.
If you’ve watched the trailer you’ve seen the best bits and saved yourself 90 minutes. Now, go call your mom.
”So far, I could have learned everything you taught me from YouTube”

Very dumb, very generic, and very, very fun. Dave Bautista makes a compelling case for being this generation’s Schwarzenegger, and this is his Kindergarten Cop. My Spy nicely hearkens back to an era when kids’ movies had a little edge — there’s violence, foul language, and some surprisingly dark jokes. It’s consistently funny, both intentionally and unintentionally, and would be great to watch with a kid.
Dave Bautista watching Notting Hill and saying “this is the saddest movie ever” is me and I don’t like it
