Naked isn't good, but it's a hell lot better than what I thought it'd be. It's not funny, it's lazy, and at only 90 minutes the film feels like it's 3 hours long. Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall do give it a lot of effort though, so there's that and there's some actual genuinely sweet moments during the film. Better than a lot of the comedies from Netflix.
maybe it's bc its like 1:31 in the morning but i was laughing, thank you marlon wayans
"Like Groundhog Day....but naked!"
A really weird remake of the Mike Leigh film.
The Emperor's New Clone
You know the film industry is in trouble when an obscure Swedish comedy from the year 2000, which itself ripped off the time loop concept from the far greater Groundhog Day, gets an American remake by a director responsible for one of last year's worst films. At least Naken treated us to some funny side characters and a hot moment with former Playboy playmate Victoria Silvstedt.
Naked is the movie equivalent of picturing someone nude and then asking them to put their clothes back on when reality doesn't fit the fantasy. A total waste of time. The Anti-Christ of metaphysical comedies. An embarrassing suckfest. The bottom of the barrel. A movie so bad, it makes Adam…
Quickie Review
Oh, Netflix. You try so hard and yet you face plant every time. I should probably tell you why by telling you about their latest original movie. Let's do that. Rob (Marlon Wayans) is getting married to the love of his life (Regina Hall) and he's not going to let anything ruin this big day....except waking up in a elevator buck naked. Now, he has to live through this embarrassing day until he can get things right. Think Groundhog Day except with a naked man. There's a couple of laughs here and there but it's weighed down by humorless lulls and forced tropes. The only thing that keeps the movie from being rated a half star is the fact that Marlon Wayans can be funny when the opportunity arises and those opportunities do happen amidst all the celluloid dead space. Naked is a Netflix film at its most meh.
It's Marlon Waynes time, in other words it's time for the director who made some of the worst comedies like both The Haunted House movies and Fifty Shades Of Black to curse us with another bad one....but this one isn't actually bad surprisingly. It might be hard to believe but this isn't horrendous film, talk about an improvement! When I saw this was going to be made by this guy I thought one of the spots in my Top 50 worst films of 2017 was going to be taken but somehow it passed that. Marlon Waynes was actually not too bad in this one, I mean it wasn't his best performance but there was definitely effort put into it unlike…

Maybe my expectations were super low and that helped it, but I liked Netflix's latest comedy film. Unlike Ricky Gervais' Super Correspondents or Kevin James' True Memoirs of an International Assassin or Adam Sandlers' barrage of hastily made Netflix films (although I at least somewhat liked Ridiculous 6), Marlon Wayans' Naked feels like there was actual thought put into. I actually chuckled at a Netflix comedy.
You see, Netflix is quick to greenlight things from what I've heard, especially when a notable name is attached. they're also very lenient during production, pretty much letting the people who make the film do whatever they want. Ricky Gervais and Adam Sandler have used this…
Time-Loop Scenario Stripped of Interest
"Naked" is a lazy rip-off a time-loop movie, not only of "Groundhog Day" (1993), the gold standard of the genre, but it's also an English-language remake of the Swedish version "Naken" (2000), which I haven't seen but also doesn't appear to be held in high regard. "Source Code" (2011), "Edge of Tomorrow" (2014), "Happy Death Day" (2017), the "Russian Doll" series, and "Palm Springs" (2020) have all done interesting things with this specific time-travel concept, including doing better than "Naked" the whodunnit of a crime ("Source Code" and "Happy Death Day") and an improved rom-com ("Groundhog Day" and "Palm Springs," heck even "The Map of Tiny Perfect Things" (2021)). So, what's supposed to be special…
I mean it’s really just a much lamer—and I mean MUCH lamer—version of ‘Groundhog Day.’
Can I even really say I've seen this film when I remember literally nothing about it?

Throughout the whole film: man this guys an asshole
End of the film: man this guy was an aashole and why did I care about all this
If you feel like watching Groundhog Day but don’t feel like watching Groundhog Day, watch this.
The time loop film is quickly starting to become played out, we have seen them too often. Though there are a few good laughs here Wayans is struggling and the rest of the cast leave next to no impression on you at all.
