Woof. This was a case of ruined childhood nostalgia.
Picked this up cheaply on VHS back when film options were limited, streaming wasn’t a thing, and I was obsessed with anything remotely relating to Terminator or Aliens. Ah the early 90s...
In comes Navy Seals with personal hero Michael Biehn. I vaguely remember watching this more than a few times and being struck by the exciting action sequences.
This time around, realizing the film is borderline propaganda, overly long, and lacking character. Sheen is a caricature and one of the larger focuses of the film. The “exciting” action I remember is largely just shooting guns without any athleticism, ingenuity in utilizing the environment, or even filming in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
Bland as bland could be.
