  Beklemmender Psycho-Thriller mit unangenehmen Gewaltspitzen und unheilvoller Erotik, der mich 2005 im Kino gleichermaßen überrascht wie beeindruckt hat - und jetzt 16 Jahre später unverhofft als schöne Überraschung auf Netflix aufschlägt (dort anscheinend nur unter seinem Originaltitel "Naboer" zu finden).

  Definitive Empfehlung - und wie so oft: Vorher nichts über den Inhalt lesen.

  Nice acting performances, a few strange and strong one-on-one scenes, a claustrophobic location and a bizarre atmosphere make up for a thrilling first act. You’re sucked into a strange, surrealistisch-looking story about a man who gets acquainted with his neighbor girls in an eerie way. However, it turns out that there is a slightly too easy twist under the surface that confuses fantasy and reality in such a way that it makes the short runtime feel too long.

  What started out looking like it would be a pure-play exploitation flick turned out to be a competent euro psycho-thriller with a nice twist. The final scene is beautifully creepy and left a cadaver shaped stain in my brain.

  After getting dumped, Norwegian Theon Greyjoy is enticed by his two new, strange and sexy next-door neighbors.

  I thought this was going to be a straightforward seduction and torture flick, but it's actually more psychological than I'd anticipated, and it's not bad! Also, Michael Nyqvist shows up for like 5 minutes, which is pretty cool.

  Looking for your weekly fix of filth? Well, do I have good news for you! This Norwegian sleaze fest has it all. Yuck! And just when you get the hang of it, Michael Nyqvist shows up.

  Rated it this high for a few reasons. First, it doesn't overstay its welcome at 70 minutes. Also, no terrible B-plot that tries to shoehorn in a Red Herring. And finally, it still feels extremely relevant for a movie from 2005.

  Marketing will signal early Polanski and modern Lynch as influences on this underlooked Norwegian dark gem. This intelligently and claustrophobically shot psychological horror thriller has a striking mind-bending power rarely seen in modern horror cinema. For those willing to look beyond its lack of originality because of its sources of influence and because "it is obvious where the film is heading to since the very beginning" (you actually must be a freakin' genius to decipher its stunts and twist before they happen), the execution is definitely Lynchian, the claustrophobia is definitely a descendant from Le Locataire (1976), and the ending is truly Hitchcockian, but has a refreshing Scandinavian tone of minimalism and unnerving disturbing value that will resonate as an…

  SOME KINKS CAN KILL.

  In the second act, this ventured into WTF territories and once the wall with the hole was shown, I got what was happening. Explores themes about hypermasculinity shielded under a victim complex, domestic abuse and an underlying urban loneliness.

  "Naboer" ist ein kleiner, fieser Psychothriller aus Norwegen mit Mindfuck-Potential!

  Zwar dauert er gerade Mal 72 Minuten, schafft es aber in diesen durchwegs eine unangenehme Stimmung zu erzeugen und auch den ein oder anderen harten Moment zu bieten!

  Eigentlich nichts besonderes, für Freunde von harten Psycho-Thrillern, bei denen man nie so wirklich weiß, was gerade wirklich passiert, aber ein absoluter Geheimtipp!
  Und am besten davor nicht über den Film informieren, keine Inhaltsangaben lesen, sondern sich einfach überraschen lassen!

  Next Door ist ein norwegischer Psychothriller und ehrlich gesagt eine kleine Perle des Genres.

  Bin eigentlich durch Zufall auf diesen Film, der aktuell auf Netflix läuft, gestoßen. Einige Letterboxd-User haben Next Door die Tage gesehen und regelrecht geschwärmt. Ich geselle mich nun in diese Gruppe der Bewunderer mit ein. Dank u.a. an Till (drwar5song), Mario und Martin.

  Next Door ist nur knapp 75 Minuten lang, läuft in Originalsprache mit deutschen Untertitel. Aber das stört keineswegs, da die Sprache nicht das Entscheidende bei diesem Thriller ist.

  John leidet unter der Trennung von seiner Freundin Ingrid. Da lernt er seine beiden mysteriösen Nachbarinnen Anne und Kim kennen. Unter Schlägen hat John schließlich Sex mit Kim. Blutüberströmt kehrt er in seine Wohnung zurück.…

  Kleiner Geheimtipp mit einigen ordentlichen Gewaltspitzen, die mich zusammenzucken ließen. Ziemlich krank, ziemlich verwirrend, ziemlich kurzweilig. Ganz überzeugen konnte er mich dennoch nicht. Um Spoiler zu vermeiden, verzichte ich aber auf weitere Begründungen.
  Macht euch selbst ein Bild, die gut 70 Minuten ist er allemal wert. Momentan auf Netflix verfügbar.
