A father and daughter check out a small town escape room and discover there is something sinister about the place.
When this stopped being an escape room and instead just became a generic haunted house, it stopped being fun.
There was not one single shred of evidence in the entire first hour of the movie that would've led me to believe anything that was happening was real. Everything could've been explained as part of the escape room, until all of the sudden it couldn't.
Also whyyyyyyyy was the obviously 40 year old man flirting with the obviously 16 year old girl?!?!?!?!
This is what I get for taking a chance on a Syfy movie.
MY DUMB ASS REALLY WATCHED THIS THINKING IT WAS ESCAPE ROOM (2019) THIS IS SO HUMILIATING
Here is yet another horror movie that attempts to capitalize on the idea of escape rooms but fails to offer an original contribution of its own. It could have been about something. Consider, for instance, that the story opens with Michael (Mark Ghanimé) and Karen (Jeni Ross), a father-daughter on their way home because the ranch they wanted to visit turned out to be closed.
We notice immediately that this relationship is strained, possibly a result of divorce. It is apparent that the teenage daughter’s disappointment—and anger—is not just because of the parent’s failed attempt at bonding or her raging hormones. The issue lies far deeper, perhaps feelings of abandonment, but the screenplay by Jesse Mittelstadt is adamant in functioning…
this somehow simultaneously seems like it’s both a project for a middle school film class and also the product of boomers who blame cell phones for the fact that they’re bad parents. by far the worst escape room movie I’ve seen
I saw "SyFy Original" in the opening credits and wanted to turn it off. My wife suggested we at least give it a chance, and it wasn't terrible but the lack of sharks and alligators thoroughly confused me..
What a creative play on words. Do you guys get it?
It means no escape... from the escape room 😉
Essentially a mix of the never ending haunted house trope with “the puzzle” acting as a means of bringing everyone together. Now that we’ve all finished our script writing class today, learning about basic motivation and plausible coincidence; please wait until the bell rings to be dismissed ✨
This is quite possibly the second-worst feature-length film I’ve ever seen (your title is safe, Saving Christmas). Plot inconsistencies, story developments that cannot be explained, poor acting, and an ending that makes no sense... it’s the complete package. I threw this one on in celebration of successfully navigating an escape room earlier in the day. I felt more trapped by the film.
Just to give you an idea of the quality of dialogue in this movie, this is the top rated quote from this movie online:
" What if we are the five people we have to help escape?"
Nope, not worth the watch. Boring, full of tropes — if you’d like to watch an escape room horror movie just watch Escape Room (2019).
Y'know, at the start, this had moments where I felt like there was potential. Then... then there wasn't. This just left me feeling sad that I'd watched it.
Barely, but it was a solid horror movie with a decent ending. Some pretty bad dialogue at times, but it was good, overall.
I like movies with games. I like games with puzzles. I like any combination of these things. Saw is my favorite horror franchise and I do weird Japanese number puzzles and play other intricate puzzle games to relax. I love escape rooms.
If a puzzle movie is even sort of trying, I tend to enjoy it.
So the fact that this sequence of scenes that was pushed together to tell an incomprehensible puzzle story - about a plot you never get to the bottom of - featuring characters you never get enough to understand - and a 'we ran out of ideas' ending that thinks its clever, but makes as little sense as anything else going on - is about…
Okay I can’t in my right mind call this a GOOD movie, it was just way too nonsensical, HOWEVER I did enjoy it more than I expected
At one point, these people start transcribing letters from a radio station using a typewriter. This radio clearly says a bunch a random letters, including at least two Q’s, and they somehow pull out a piece of paper that says “FIVE LOST FROM MIDNIGHT”. At that point, I think my brain fully checked out.
Honestly shocking they haven’t made a thousand low rent escape room horror films
omg get it😂😂 bc it’s an escape room😂😂 and they can’t get out😂😂 no guys i don’t think you get it😂😂😂
Giving it an extra half star because I did enjoy it but it makes no sense.
*Spoilers*
They entered the house ungreeted meet strange girl who seems part of the act. Girl seems dead and suddenly they act like oh this can't be part of the game and suddenly they are crawling through windows trying to break automatic doors and searching for someone like she's in danger without any proof anyone at all is unsafe. It just doesn't make any real sense but where the movie wound up makes even less sense. The end is just cool to me lol
