As slick and greasy as David Copperfield's haircut, Now you see me is a film that tries desperately to be smart entertainment. But the simple truth is that no matter how much smoke and mirror it throws at us, it can't hide the fact that its unpredictability is very predictable.
So having your main characters utter 'I did not see that coming!' does not mean that your twist near the end was original. It was in fact devoid of any creativity whatsoever.
There are a couple of laughs, Harrelson and Ruffalo are great, but overall it's just too dumb to realize it isn't clever enough to fool its audience.
