The film's very minor flaws in terms of structure and sequence are far made up for by the excellent acting, the sincerity and honesty of the storytelling and the absolutely perfect ending. I give this movie my highest recommendation as a must watch.
This film was co-produced and directed by two brothers (David and Francisco Salazar) who each had ideas for a screenplay: one dealing with LGBTQ+ issues, the other with immigration issues for Hispanics. In the end, they combined the two ideas and that's how "Nowhere" came about.
I originally rated this 2 and a half stars, but I'll be honest: after listening to the brothers explain their goal, and the work they put into this project, I had to upgrade it to 3 stars. Our current immigration system is so archaic and arbitrary that the story is completely believable.

The American dream is difficult to achieve.
The film is directed by the Salazar brothers and is the best of its kind. The film discusses the issue of immigration and the inhumane laws that are imposed on immigrants to the United States. The film revolves around a gay couple united by love and dreams, but separated by borders and laws, in addition to family laws. The love between them becomes just a thin thread that can be separated. The film is very calm and sweet in its presentation of the dramatic plot without disturbance, with a very tender soundtrack. The film does not deal crudely with the issue of immigration, but rather shows it as a barrier and the American dream finally becomes just a nightmare from which we must wake up.
Why did no one warn me this was about Colombian queers in the US having immigration issues?
I’m so familiar with what they’re going through that I noticed when the protagonist’s boss got the name of a form wrong.
A movie with a lot of thought behind it. Great story that made me feel something. A true work of art.
Realistic and tragic, here is a story about The American Dream, love, and the human spirit. I identified so much with this heart wrenching journey— I felt their yearning, pain, and struggle.
