I shall now write a review about Odd Thomas. I will use words that make up sentences that together make up the review about Odd Thomas. It is important that I tell you this because I want to be very certain that you will be able to follow and understand everything. I will use words like 'the', 'acting', 'was', 'atrocious'. But also many, many others, so don't be afraid if you lose track, I'll make extra sure to explain everything.
You will now see a picture of a cat.
You have now seen a picture of a cat. It was white and had two different eye colours. It is important that I tell you this because I want to…
It's really tragic knowing that someone as talented as Anton Yelchin has been taken from us at such a young age. He had such a bright future ahead of him and that's what makes it worse. He could make movies that would've been average and forgettable into something fun and Odd Thomas really shows that.
Rest in Peace.
Action!: The Campy, The Violent and The Plot Twist - Sommers' Camp
As the first part of our monthly marathon comes to an end with a film that sees our campy boy Stephen Sommers somewhat returning to horror, but this time with a movie that is aimed at the young adults. In a lot of ways, it's like a cross between "The Sixth Sense" and... "Medium"?
Basically the plot revolves around a kid played by the late Anton Yelchin who has a gift of seeing dead people, along with his best friend and a Cool Cop played by Willem Dafoe, have to solve crimes and stop s**t from happening.
As it appears to be an indisputable case by now, Sommers…
Stephen Sommers's "Odd Thomas" is an odd experience. Based on the characters created by horror author Dean Koontz, the film tells an introductory tale of a young man who sees dead people but then "does something about it." "Odd Thomas" feels more like a made-for-TV movie than a theatrical film but has a solid energy and a cast of likable characters. Its narrative works hard to establish its world, pays off in unfortunately limited returns, but offers enough to make an audience interested in the further adventures of its protagonist. It's all an odd, mixed bag.
The story of "Odd Thomas," involving its clairvoyant hero, tin foil-trimmed demons, and a mini doomsday plot that ends up being more trouble than…
Loved the book, as I do with most of Dean Koontz's collection. I've read the first 4 of this series so far. But the film.... well as far as sticking to the book, it did OK. The problems were numerous though.
You know what it's like when you read a book and you visualise what all the characters look like and sound like? Odd Thomas wasn't right for me. His voice was too weedy and his character seemed too wet. The acting throughout seemed a little shoddy and some big characters in the book only made fleeting appearances. Ozzie for example, appeared for about 30 seconds and looked completely wrong. And where was Elvis?
The film seemed to be like…
This is one odd film, not a good one at all and it makes little sense. But, damn I was entertained for its 96 minutes.
It felt more like a tv series than a bonafide movie! The directors execution of the film was too juvenile for my taste!
I heard the novel is great! Unfortunately they picked the WRONG director for this project!
